A Cantankerous Victory

Even-money favorite Cantankerous Clyde (Peace Rules) leaped out of the gate and went straight to the front, soon putting space between himself and the rest of the field. He set comfortable fractions (:24.18, :48.67), while racing off the rail. Illusive, who was erratic and rank, took a run at him, but soon faded. Russell Baze barely moved on Clyde into the stretch. When the field began gaining some, Cantankerous Clyde rebroke and won by an easy three lengths. Niner Genius and Cascade Cruiser closed late for 2nd and 3rd.
