Too Much Song for Old Man Bill

Fullofsong cleared the field early, with Memento's Delight and Old Man Bill (Speightstown) chasing. Favorite Old Man Bill made a move, but couldn't sustain it and finished 3rd. Very little change of position in this one, Great Notion and Dip My Beak switched positions once (they finished 4th and 5th). Everyone else maintained the same position throughout.

Conga Queen (filly; Congaree - Special Test by Hawkin's Special) hit the lead at the head of the stretch, but weakened a bit and finished 3rd in her Allowance race at Oaklawn Park.

Canadian Royalty (colt; Peace Rules - Northern Babe by Polish Numbers) set the early pace in his Claiming race at Charles Town, dropped back a bit, and then moved back to the lead. But, he couldn't hold off Tahoe Kid. Tiger Rules (colt; Peace Rules - Danzig Tiger by Danzig Connection) was scratched from the race.

Two-year old racing begins with the first race at Santa Anita on March 26. No Maiden Watch horses in this race restricted to California-breds, but 8 colts and geldings (plus one colt on the AE list), and 2 fillies will do battle at 2 furlongs. All horses are required to have passed their actual 2nd birthdays.

The morning-line favorite is Turbo Time (gelding; Nineeleven - Better Day by Afleet). He is out of a winning mare who has produced 5 winners, including stakes winner Jazz Sweep and stakes-placed Turbo Call. Turbo Call is a full-brother to Turbo Time. Three of Turbo Time's siblings won at 2, and two won their debuts. Turbo Call won his debut last year on March 21, running 2 furlongs at Santa Anita. Nineeleven is also the sire of Action Call (gelding; Nineeleven - Action Girl by Wild Rush) and Mac Nine (gelding; Nineeleven - My Miss Ilse by Black Mackee). Action Call is the 2nd foal out of the winning mare Action Girl. Action Girl is a half-sister to 3 winners.
