No Maiden Watch 2-year olds running on April 15, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to catch up on workouts. These include three new workers for Rock Hard Ten: Hard Way Ten, Manners, and Pow.

New Workers to this Blog

On April 12, Hard Way Ten (filly; Rock Hard Ten - Youcan'ttakeme by He's Tops) worked 2 furlongs at Hollywood Park in :26.60. Hard Way Ten is out of stakes winner Youcan'ttakeme, who was a debut winner at 2. Hard Way Ten is Youcan'ttakeme's 2nd foal. Her first foal, Super Dixie, was a debut winner and a stakes winner at 2.

Also on April 12, Pow (colt; Rock Hard Ten - Inspired Kiss by Inspired Prospect) worked 2 furlongs on a sloppy Hastings Racecourse, recording a time of :26.60. Pow sold for $60,000 as a yearling, and is out of stakes winner Inspired Kiss. Inspired Kiss was a debut winner at 2, and took the South Ocean and Ontario Lassie Stakes later that year. Inspired Kiss has produced 2 winners, including 2-year old debut winner Beso Del Sur.

Manners (filly; Rock Hard Ten - Turkana by Deputy Minister) worked on April 13, going 4 furlongs at Keeneland in :47.20. Manners is a half-sister to stakes-placed Turk, who finished 3rd in the San Miguel Stakes on March 28. Turkana, dam of Manners, is a half-sister to 3 winners.

April 9

Kera's Kitten (colt; Kitten's Joy - Mrs. K. by Dixieland Band) worked 3 furlongs at the Churchill Downs Training track in :36.40.

April 11

Lujack (colt; Rock Hard Ten - To the Rainbow (FR) by Rainbow Quest) worked 3 furlongs at Benton Training Center in :38.40.

April 13

Ciminella (filly; Afleet Alex - Bruanna by Housebuster) worked 4 furlongs in :51.00 at Keeneland.

Also working 4 furlongs at Keeneland was Zapster (colt; Ghostzapper - Extend by Unbridled's Song), who recorded a time of :48.40 from the gate.

Results for April 12

Exclusively Mine (colt; Saarland - Jingle Berry by Two Punch) had to steady on the first turn and was tracking the pace, but faded to 10th in his Maiden Special Weight on the Gulfstream turf. Watch the Replay.

Cantankerous Clyde (gelding; Peace Rules - Justforthegirls by Slew Gin Fizz) set most of the pace in his Allowance/Optional Claiming race at Golden Gate, but tired late finishing 6th. Watch the Replay.

Also note that Col. Wease (gelding; Birdstone - Tango Red by High Brite) picked up his maiden win in Maiden Claiming company at Philadelphia Park on April 14. Watch the Replay.

Entries April 15

Original Ink (colt; Speightstown - Red n'Gold by Tabasco Cat) faces 10 in a 7 furlong Maiden Special Weight contest at Keeneland, post time 3:05 PM ET. Carded as race 5, he'll break from post 8. Original Ink has made one previous start, finishing 8th in a 6 furlong Maiden Special Weight at Gulfstream on February 28.

Also running in a 7 furlong Maiden Special Weight at Keeneland is D'oro Diablo (colt; Medaglia d'Oro - Dancehall Floozy by Paramount Jet), in race 7. Post time is 4:05 PM ET, as he makes his 2nd start. First time out, D'oro Diablo finished 3rd at Gulfstream Park running 6 furlongs in the slop on March 21.

Naughtiest (filly; Congaree - Haughty by Halo) debuts in race 9 at Gulfstream, a mile and a sixteenth turf Maiden Special Weight. Post time is 5:14 PM ET. Naughtiest is out of the winning mare Haughty. Haughty has produced 8 winners, including stakes winner Naughty.
