News and Notes
Summer Bird (Birdstone) worked April 24 in preparation for the Kentucky Derby. He went 6 furlongs in 1:15.80 at Churchill Downs. Mine That Bird (Birdstone) and probable Oaks favorite Rachel Alexandra (Medaglia d'Oro) are scheduled to work on Monday at Churchill. I would encourage anyone in the area to get up early and catch them in action, as Churchill Downs will be featuring Dawn at the Downs from April 27 - 30. Actually, Mine That Bird is scheduled to go out around 8:50, so it's not even that early. I haven't heard a precise time for Rachel.
Lela Pounces on Keith's Kitten
Big favorite
Lela went right to the lead, shook loose from the competition to win by better than 2.
Credit Crunch made up some ground to get 2nd.
Keith's Kitten (Kitten's Joy) was off well and secured a good position, but lacked punch late. Still, she beat 6 of them, and should be stronger next time around.
Autumn Bells might be one to watch. She was off very slowly and made up a lot of ground late to finish 6th.
Vancy Shoes was scratched.
Watch the Replay.

Tribecky in the Midst
Sigh was off slowly, spotting the field a few lengths from the start.
Midst broke best, but she was pursued by
Truly a Myth and
Tribecky (Saint Liam). They stayed that way for awhile, but in the stretch Midst pulled away to win by better than 4. Truly a Myth was another 4 lengths in front of 3rd place,
Lady Silver Song. Tribecky lost some ground late, to finish 4th. Midst is the only runner for her sire, Closing Argument, and his first winner. Read more about Midst
here.
