Larry Zips by Russian Kitten

I missed an entry for April 28 for Russian Kitten (Kitten's Joy), partially because I'm off on Mondays and I spent the morning at Churchill and the afternoon planting flowers, but also because having received the entry on Saturday, I assumed the race was Wednesday, having forgotten that Churchill Downs was running on Tuesday this week. However, I did watch the race and will recap it below. Metallic Mist (Saint Liam) and Ken's Kitten (Kitten's Joy) were also entered in another race at Churchill on the 28th, but they were scratched, probably due to the sloppy track.

Larry Zips by Russian Kitten

Russian Kitten broke in the air, but she fared better than Star Crazy, who went to her nose and lost rider Jesus Castanon. Five Plus Five broke best and sped to a clear lead. Chasing was Zippy Larry, who hopped at the start, but was tenacious in the drive. She kept coming and caught Five Plus Five near the wire. Russian Kitten ran with the second pack, picked up some ground, but wasn't a threat to the top finishers, taking 6th. It was an improvement over her debut, in which she finished 7th on April 4. Watch the Replay.
