Too Much Evil for Ghost Shadow

Necessary Evil sped out of the gate and went to the lead, with Laura's Pleasure in close pursuit. About a length behind these, Ghost Shadow (Ghostzapper), Win for M'lou, Magic Yodeler, and Rote lined up, with Ghost Shadow on the rail. Ghost Shadow began to lose ground on the turn and weakened late, finishing 6th. Up front, Necessary Evil continued to roll towards a victory and a new track record. Closely nicely was Mi Sueno, the $1.7 million weanling daughter of Pulpit and Madcap Escapade, who moved into 2nd. Win for M'lou and Magic Yodeler stayed on well for 3rd and 4th. Watch the Replay.

Maggie

I may be late on this, but glad to see Rock Hard Ten's and Kitten's Joy's offspring showing up on the MaidenWatch Blog.  Ever since their retirement, I've been waiting for their first offspring to hit the track.  And it's been worth the wait.

I enjoy your maiden watch blog, but I also find it frustrating;  for example in your last entry regarding Ghost Shadows first start... she didn't win and Necessary Evil did...  but there is no mention of the winners breeding;  yes, I can go to Equibase and download the full chart to find out, but it would be nice to have this information included in the article itself.

Thanks.

Brady1 - thank you for your comments. The pedigree for Necessary Evil and all the horses in Ghost Shadows' debut are covered in the preview for the race.

I have reproduced it here:  Necessary Evil (Harlan's Holiday - Song and Danz by Unbridled's Song) brought $160,000 as a yearling. She is the first foal out of the unplaced mare Song and Danz. Song and Danz is a half-sister to stakes winner Forest Danz. Forest Danz won the Fasig-Tipton Turf Dash as a 2-year old.
