Dixie Chick Too Hot for Maggi

Hot Dixie Chick leaped out of the gate and was soon clear of the field. She continued to pull away in the stretch, winning by better than 5. Proud Zoe, who finished 3rd behind Hot Dixie Chick last time out, chased her home, picking up second. Afleet Maggi (Afleet Alex) was off ok, settled, and then made good advance. She was in third for much of the stretch, but was passed late by a closing Tapitsfly. Still, a good debut for Afleet Maggi. Lot of greeness going on in this one. The worse was probably Im a Classy Cat, who went this way and that way. Hot Dixie Chick (Dixie Union - Above Perfection by In Excess (IRE)) established a new track record, going the 5 furlongs in :56.48. Watch the Replay.

Northern Dancer Stakes

Successful Dan took command early, but Warrior's Reward (Medaglia d'Oro - For All You Do by Seeking the Gold) was never far off. Those two dueled through the stretch, with Successful Dan getting his head in front at the wire. Broad Stone (Birdstone - Broad Legacy by Broad Brush) trailed throughout. Watch the Replay.

Jostle Stakes

Saarlight (Saarland - Crystal Blaze by Spectacular Bid) went to the lead, and went way too fast (:21.49, :43.82). Predictably, she faltered in the stretch, and longshot Trusty Temper, who had been stalking, took over. It looked as though Missunitednations (Peace Rules - Sister Greeley by Mr. Greeley) might have a say in the outcome, but she could do no better than 4th. Northern Belle and Bandora completed a $10,882.60 trifecta. Cinderella's Wish (Speightstown - Godmother by Show'em Slew) didn't show much, but apparently had an excuse. She returned to the unsaddling area bleeding from the nostrils. She's A Wow (Speightstown - Venetian Glass by Deputy Minister) was scratched. Watch the Replay.

Unbridled Stakes

Prince Joshua gave You Luckie Mann a race, but in the end heavy favorite You Luckie Mann was too much. For All Who Conga (Congaree) found a lot of trouble in this little field. He ducked in at the start and then had to steady on the turn. He ended up third. Watch the Replay.

Leave Me Alone Stakes

Elusive Appeal set the pace with Going to the Sun and Cassidys Pride (Medaglia d'Oro) chasing. Both Elusive Appeal and Cassidys Pride tired in the stretch, and Going to the Sun assumed the lead. However, she was helpless to hold off the closing kick of First Passage. Donttellmewhattodo was closing too and just missed second. Watch the Replay.
