News and Notes

Sad news today, as stakes winner Olredlgetcha, from the first crop of Limestone, was euthanized after developing a staph infection. Olredlgetcha won the Victoria Stakes at Woodbine on June 14.

Just a reminder, please continue to comment on any impressive maiden victories that you see, whether or not they are sired by our primary stallions. I can post video replays for those tracks that we have access to, so that everyone can watch as well.

North Street beats the Recession

North Street (Street Cry (IRE)) - Starkly Arctic by North Pole) was the clear favorite in the wagering, but the entry of Fire and Forget (Forestry - Missile Bay by Yes It's True) and Pickels Pub (Freud - Daily Routine by Well Decorated) also took some money. Groovy Warrior (Desert Warrior - Sanctionize by Groovy) was an early scratch, and Estupenda (Lord At Law - Frescidia by Master Derby) was a late scratch. Fire and Forget was keyed up in the warmup, and she broke on top. She was quickly followed by the favorite, North Street. Recession Proof (Afleet Alex - Pert Lady by Cox's Ridge) was off last, many lengths behind the next horse, but she began making up ground quickly. Up front, North Street overtook Fire and Forget and moved clear. She drew off to win by better than 6. However, Recession Proof was moving well late, and picked 4 spots in the stretch to take second by a neck over Luvabull Me (This Bulls for You - Envy Me by West by West). North Street is out of stakes-placed Starkly Arctic, who has now produced 4 winners from 4 to run. Watch the Replay.

She drew off in the stretch to win by better than 3. Anita's Gem (First Tour - Sweetest Dream by Sir Leon), who had been just off the leaders in fourth, came running late to take second. Fappie's Princess and Gray Flash tired to 3rd and 4th. Logan Square is out of the winning mare Invincible. Just want to say how sad I am that Oldredlgetcha (by Limehouse) had to be put down just a month after he won the Victoria Stakes so well.  He could have been a nice horse, I think.

Hey Blood-Horse Staff: can you lend me enough money to buy both Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta and then barn storm them around the country?

(nothing to do with this blog but you did ask, didn't you, about any other requests?)

Just wanted to express my appreciation for all the info on this blog. I do read it so that I'll know when the babes of my favorite sires (and the moms too) will race. It would be hard to do so if it weren't for the info that is provided here.  I followed the racing careers of most of the new parents here, and it is such fun to watch their babies.  Thanks.
