Rock Hard Lashes

  • Comments

Long Lashes (Rock Hard Ten - Border Dispute by Boundary) went to post as a longshot in the Ballygallon Stud Stakes at the Curragh, but at the end of the running she was an easy winner, and in the process became Rock Hard Ten's first winner and first stakes winner. She was never far out of it, challenged between horses, and finished well in the 6 furlong contest on the soft turf. Read more about Long Lashes' here.

Honorable Lady Skips Home

Lady Eddington (Eddington - Miss Blues Sweep by End Sweep) and Skippin' Home (Afleet Alex - Second Symphony by Mining) took most of the attention at the windows, going off at 3-5 and 5-2 respectfully. I was struck by the saddle cloths all the same color. I didn't know that there were tracks in North America that didn't use the multi-color saddle cloths. Interestingly enough, the saddle cloths on the tote board were the accustomed colors. Mondiva (Petionville - Bayou Boots by Storm Boot) was keyed up in the post parade, and broke on top. Honorable Lady (Petionville - Enthusiastic by Unbridled), the other Petionville in the race, was tracking throughout, and she pulled by in the stretch to win, as the longest shot on the board. Favorite Lady Eddington did make up some ground late to finish third. Skippin' Ground ran evenly in fourth the whole way round.

A Vertical Vision Rocks the Baby

Rock Hard Baby (Rock Hard Ten - Bully's Del Mar by Notebook) took a little money early on, but the big favorite was the Pollard's Vision filly, Vertical Vision (Pollard's Vision - Caney Creek by Service Stripe). Wild Smoocher (Wildcat Heir - Geeze Louise by Meadowlake) and Kristys Not Shy (Boone's Mill - Kristy's Regency by Regal Classic) were scratched. Rock Hard Baby was bucking and feeling good in the post parade. Vertical Vision broke on top and took the early lead. Rock Hard Baby broke well and kept her spot on the rail. She was was rushed up to press the pace, but couldn't stay with Vertical Vision. That filly took off, drawing away to win by better than 6. Speedy Spice (Thunder Gulch - Paintball by Jules) chased to get second, and Woke Up Smilin (Woke Up Dreamin - Madison Grace by Just a Tab) made up some ground late to get third. Rock Hard Baby faded to 5th. This wasn't a bad effort for Rock Hard Baby, despite the final placing. She had to break from the dreaded rail spot, with the scratch of Wild Smoocher and was rushed up to duel with the more experienced Vertical Vision. Next time out, there should be a better outcome. Watch the Replay.

3-year old Stakes Results June 26

Shared Account (filly; Pleasantly Perfect - Silk n' Sapphire by Smart Strike) was rank early and had to steady, but came running late to finish a good third in the Perfect Sting at Belmont Park. Watch the Replay.

Mein Fraulein (filly; Saarland - Adena's Girl by Personal Flag) ran her heart out in the Iowa Oaks (gr. III). She pressed pacesetter Don'ttalktome from the break. Then, she moved ahead of that one on the far turn. But, she just couldn't hold off the closers, tiring to 5th. A mile and a sixteenth may be a little far for her, but she certainly doesn't lack guts. Watch the Replay.

Conchacer (colt; Congaree - Eliot Chacer by Clever Trick) was involved early in the Iowa Derby, but started retreating after a half to finish well behind the field. Watch the Replay.

Other 3-year old Results June 26
