News and Notes

At Bellewstown in Ireland, Humor Me Rene (filly; Kitten's Joy - Star of Humor by Distorted Humor) finished a decent third, after leading early on.

Grand Reward picked up his first winner, when the colt Angus Kahn (Grand Reward - Diablo River by Diablo) was victorious in the first race at Presque Isle Downs. Watch the Replay. Read more here.

The 2-year old Medaglia d'Oro colt, McKenna's Justice (Medaglia d'Oro - Regretfully by Lit de Justice) turned in an impressive performance in his 2nd start, and first turf try. He made up a ton of ground late and came through on the inside to take the 7.5 furlong race easily. He is trained by my favorite Lone Star trainer, Danny Pish. Watch the Replay.

Also at 7.5 furlongs on the Lone Star turf, 2-year old debuter Prince Eddington (Eddington - Queen Mama by Seattle Slew) by freshman sire Eddington, came from off the pace to win a blanket finish, despite running green down the stretch. Watch the Replay.

Queen Over Gray Flash

Favoritism went to Maneuver (Concorde's Tune - Waitryst (NZ) by Bassenthwaite (GB)), who certainly looked the part. Also getting some attention at the windows was Gray Flash (Afleet Alex - Stormy Regina by Storm Cat). But at the break, Drive Me West (West Acre - Drivemecrazy by Sword Dance (IRE)) shot to the lead. La Guereja (Cashel Castle - Do Ya Wannago by Ago) went after the leader, and the two of them dueled for the time. In the stretch, Drive Me West drifted out, taking La Guereja with her. Coming through that generous opening was Queen La Turka (Southern Image - La Turka by Turkoman), who drew off winning by better than 4. La Guereja pulled away from Drive Me West to take second. Gray Flash was off slow again, and made up some ground late to get fourth. Just Me N You (Untuttable - American Dreams by Runaway Groom), Ms. Chiquilla (Mr. Livingston - Kirgizia by Palace Music), and Popular Act (Act of Duty - Super Popular by Langfuhr) were scratched. Watch the Replay.
