Pool Bashes Cuqui's Love

Sorry it's taken me awhile to post the result for Cuqui's Love, I was off yesterday to make-up for working the July 4 holiday.

News and Notes

Our old buddy Curly (2005 colt; Gulch - Fount by Kris S.) was back on the worktab, going 3 furlongs in :38.60 at Arlington Park on July 6.

Pool Bashes Cuqui's Love

Cuqui's Love (Afleet Alex - Chilukki Cat by Storm Cat) was the favorite for this one, run on a sloppy track. Also receiving attention at the windows was Pool Bash (David Copperfield - Cast of Characters by Event of the Year), the 3-race veteran, who was adding blinkers. She was on her toes in the paddock, while Mind Ruler (Roman Ruler - Gentle Mind by Seattle Slew) was a little aggravated. Cuqui's Love looked good in the warm-up. As they were loading, Mind Ruler broke through the gate. She ran one way, and then turned back the other way. For a moment, I thought that she might run into the gate, but she wasn't stupid and stopped. A man standing outside the fence thought he had her, but no, she wheeled and took off again. Finally, an outrider grabbed her. She passed the vet check and everybody loaded up again. Mind Ruler almost got away again, but not this time. Magical Tiger (Roar of the Tiger - Magical Promise by Montbrook) broke on top, with Mind Ruler pressing. Cuqui's Love was in a good position in third. She came up the inside to take the lead, as Mind Ruler stayed in second. But, Pool Bash went by them all on the outside. Cuqui's Love finished a good second. Mi Nieta Yaniliz (Kafwain - Shar's Smile by Peaks and Valleys) just nipped Mind Ruler at the wire to take third. Liberty Land (Teton Forest - Homecoming by Pulpit) was scratched. Watch the Replay (July 6, race 7).
