Octogarian Rocks Hollywood

Octogarian (Rock Hard Ten - Coronda Rose by Coronado's Quest) jumped to the lead in this one, with Rote (Tiznow - Song to Remember by Storm Cat) close behind. However, Octogarian soon built up a several length advantage on Rote. Favorite Mi Sueno (Pulpit - Madcap Escapade by Hennessy), who is out of grade I winner Madcap Escapade, put in a run in the stretch. But, Octogarian had enough to hold that one off. She took the win by an easy length. Octogarian is the first U.S. winner for Rock Hard Ten, and his 2nd winner overall. His first winner, Long Lashes, won the Ballygallon Stud Stakes in her debut on June 26 in Ireland. I apologize to those following on twitter for not tweeting during this race. Twinspires.com was crashing my Internet Explorer (or Internet Explorer was crashing my Twinspires.com), and I was having trouble watching live. Watch the Replay.

*squeeze* I don't remember much about RHT, but I remember his running style. A very sharp, "aggressive" up front style. Kudos, buddy.

AnneM - Medaglia d'Onore is actually entered in the American Dreamer Stakes at Calder Saturday. I would be surprised if he goes, but you never know.

Even watching the replay of Octogarian, I was stunned to see one of ours take the early lead.
