Like a Rocket

Remarkable Rocket (Afleet Alex - Bold World by Fortunate Prospect) looked fit before the race. Source of Humor (Distorted Humor - Outsource by Storm Bird), the full-sister to Commentator, is a good looker and went off as the favorite. It was a pretty fair start, although Ba Ba's Bunch (El Corredor - Full Figure by Polish Numbers) and Round N Round (Awesome Again - Chit Chatter by Lost Soldier) bumped, and Suzanne (Officer - Anclote by Twining) bobbled a bit. Fox Hunt (Saint Liam - Zorra by Silver Fox) went to the lead, with Source of Humor and Remarkable Rocket sharing 2nd. Remarkable Rocket came through on the inside, and pulled away. Suzanne made a bit of a dent in the lead late, but there was no catching Remarkable Rocket. Fox Hunt and Source of Humor both tired, finishing 5th and 7th. Remarkable Rocket is the second winner for Afleet Alex, and his first debut winner. Watch the Replay.

Wild Hare Jumps Away from Tribecky

It was raining at Preque Isle Downs, but that doesn't make much difference with the Tapeta. It did keep most of the horses in their stalls in the paddock. There She Is (Medaglia d'Oro - Darby Shuffle by Darby Creek Road) was a scratch. Miss Iron Lady (Runaway Groom - Iron Miss by Fit to Fight) was feisty and Tremendamente Loca (Offlee Wild - Montaraz by Numerous) was on her toes. Tribecky (Saint Liam - Double Jeopardy by Horse Chestnut SAF)) ended up as the favorite, but Wild Hare (Wild Zone - Rabbit by Clever Trick) and Tremendamente Loca also received plenty of attention at the windows. Tremendamente Loca and Wild Hare dueled early, with Tribecky chasing just behind. Wild Hare shook free from Tremendamente in the stretch to score a 1 length win. Tremendamente Loca was another 6 lengths in front of the rest. Tribecky tired to 5th. Watch the Replay.

Westover is a Wildcat over Doubles Partner

Trappe Shot (Tapit - Shopping by Private Account) was favored throughout much of the wagering, but Westover Wildcat (Forest Wildcat - Bronze Abe by Two Punch), who was 2nd in his first start, was the choice when the gates opened. He looked ready to go in the paddock. D'bigcat (D'wildcat - Gloomy Knot by Once Wild) was given a big warm-up, which sometimes indicates that they are going to the lead. Doubles Partner (Rock Hard Ten - Serena's Sister by Rahy) and his stablemate Antenna (Tale of the Cat - Miss Moonwaki by Miswaki) were warming up side-by-side. Doubles Partner looked like he might need a race, Antenna looked more ready to go. At the break, Trappe Shot stumbled and trailed. Doubles Partner broke slowly and never really got involed, finishing last. Meanwhile, D'bigcat went to the lead, followed by V Sat (Vindication - Satin Cat by Storm Cat). Not far back was Westover Wildcat. Westover Wildcat hit the front and began to draw away. Coming on strong was No Truth Told (Tale of the Cat - Belle's Bluff by Pine Bluff), who ended up best of the rest in second. Double Partner's stablemate Antenna outfought Devonshire (Royal Academy - Ice Cream Cone by Seeking the Gold) for the third spot. Watch the Replay.
