Piscitelli is Nicetoseeagain

Everyone was feeling good before this one. Persistant Fella (E Dubai - Acting Proud by Proud Birdie) was a little obnoxious in the walking ring. Scavezzato (Wheelaway - Teedleewinks by Badger Land) was not safe to be behind. Nicetoseey'again (Saint Liam - O K to Dance by With Approval) was looking good. Favoritism was between Piscitelli (Victory Gallop - Rayelle by Relaunch) and No Shenanigans (Value Plus - Western Resolve by West by West). Once they got onto the track, Nicetoseey'again was bucking and kicking. I would have liked to see him settle down. Two Notch Road (Partner's Hero - Capiana by Capote) was off best, while Nicetoseey'again was a little slow at the break. No Shenanigans stalked the pacesetter, and then moved to the lead on the turn. He looked home free, but Piscitelli was coming. He switched to the inside and rallied to the front. Nicetoseey'again made up some ground to take 5th. Doc Thunderbolt (Chapel Royal - Lake Barataria by Meadowlake) was scratched. Watch the Replay.

Habanera Moves Past Gray Flash

Track was sloppy, and Stariana (El Corredor - Marietta's Charm by Wolfhound) was a scratch. Since it was nasty out there, I didn't get much of a look at the participants, who stayed in the stalls. Gray Flash (Afleet Alex - Stormy Regina by Storm Cat) was favored, off of her 2nd place finish last time out. Brisk Tide (Fast Play - Marhaba by Turkoman) was looking pretty eager. No one appeared to really hate the mud. Brisk Tide acted up in the gate, but broke on top. She didn't stay there long, however, as Habanera (Concerto - Passion Slayer by Tactical Advantage) took over after a half. There was no catching her, as she won by better than 3. Gray Flash was chasing 3-wide, but weakened to 9th. Not sure if it was the sloppy track or the outside post, or a combination of the two that caused her sub-par performance. Watch the Replay.

Kinsey is Awesome over Salaam Alaykum

The track was fast. Cape Cod Carrie (Purge - Bet by Go for Gin) and Snap Happy (Lion Heart - Snappy Little Tune by Spanish Drums) were program scratches. This meant that AE entrant The Underling (Malibu Moon - Queens Court Queen by Lyphard) got to run, and she was made the favorite. Salaam Alaykum (Saint Liam - Our Legacy by Kingmambo) looked pretty leggy to me in the paddock, which made the rail post even more of a concern. Go for Jan (Distorted Humor - Glimmer by Deputy Minister) made a favorable appearance, but Hidden Value (Value Plus - Raw Gold by Rahy) really caught my eye. However, she got pretty wet once they got on the track, and I thought she might have wasted some energy. Another one who looked good was Awesome Maria (Maria's Mon - Discreetly Awesome by Awesome Again). Let's face it, it's Saratoga, most everybody looks good. One who was agitated was Roman Chestnut (Roman Ruler - Silverdew by Silver Deputy), who dumped her rider in the post parade. She also needed a push to get in the gate. Once they broke, Atrea (Storm Cat - New Dice by Capote) and Kinsey (Delaware Township - Raspberry Eggcream by Time for a Change) dueled. Awesome Maria and Hidden Value were just behind these. Kinsey pulled away from Atrea, but Awesome Maria took up the chase. Kinsey was all out to hold off Awesome Maria, who looks to have a good future. Closing a lot of ground late was Ailalea (Pulpit - Wood Sprite by Woodman), who picked up third. Salaam Alaykum was rushed up from her rail spot, swung outside, and then weakened. She beat just one home, but I'd give her another shot. She was really compromised by the inside post. Not surprisingly, Roman Chestnut was rank throughout and finished last. Watch the Replay.

How about Smarty's Backtalk yesterday! Second gutsy win in a row.  Didn't see you mention it in the column.

Backtalk really looked like he is putting together a very nice resume.  I liked how he kept digging in and fighting when he was caught so close to the wire.  I hope he continues to do well.

Way to go Backtalk, knew that Smarty would come up with a "very" good one at some time and looks like this is it.  May he continue to show his stuff and stay sound.
