Only one 2-year old result from July 31, as Alex a Fortiori (Afleet Alex - Channel Crossing by Deputy Minister) and Itineris (Afleet Alex - Kafaf by Zilzal) were scratched at Charles Town. They will run instead on August 1 at Charles Town (see below).

Kate Kids with Jill's Kitten

The rains came to Saratoga and this race (and all the other turf races) were run on the sloppy main track. It'smyburtday (Stormy Atlantic - Talega by Devil's Bag), Ready to Party (More Than Ready - Miss Cap by Capote), and Tribeca (Value Plus - Littletalkintootie by Regal Affair) were scratched, while MTO entrant Rumpus Room (Eddington - Junkinthetrunk by Top Account) got to go. Favoritism bounced around between Key Quality (Elusive Quality - Forest Key by Green Forest) and the Todd Pletcher entry of Whydah (More Than Ready - Riverboat Miss by Storm Cat) and Caminadora (More Than Ready - Stoneway by Storm Boot). Jill's Kitten looked a little tentative in the paddock, while Rumpus Room was rambunctious. Alwaysinmydreams (Cat Dreams - Treatmelikealady by Distinctive Pro) looked ready to go, but Saratoga Fling (Pulpit - Cherish Destiny by Grand Slam) took my prize for best looking. Alwaysinmydreams went to the lead out of the gate, but Jill's Kitten didn't let her get much of an advantage. Also close up was Taconic Victory (Eddington - Lovely Martha by Storm Bird). In the stretch, Jill's Kitten moved to the lead, but she couldn't hold it. Taconic Victory went by first, but on the outside, Kid Kate (Lemon Drop Kid - Run Kate Run by Cherokee Run) was closing quickly. She swept by them all and pulled away for an easy win. Jill's Kitten tired to 6th. One to watch for is Saratoga Fling, who made up a lot of ground late to finish fourth. Watch the Replay.
