Mr. Vegas Dances by the Shrimp
This one stayed on the turf, which was listed as good. Holy Ego (Freud - Holy Wish by Lord At War (ARG)) was scratched, allowing AE entrant All Zipped Up (City Zip - Flippant by Thunder Puddles) to run. Also left on the sidelines were AE entrant (Pioneering - Minni Sangue by Slew Sangue) and MTO Cathy's Rascal (Catienus - Fiji Rascal by Victory Speech). Quick Money (City Zip - What a Price by Repriced) was getting most of the attention from the bettors, and he was close to even money when the gates opened. However, he wasn't impressing me in the walking ring. Shrimp Dancer (Kitten's Joy - Formal Dancer by Formal Gold) looked good, as did Joe D (Thunder Gulch - Ginny Dare by Pilgrim). But, most of the horses seemed to be feeling good, probably due to the weather. All Zipped Up did not want to go onto the track. They finally led him out to the track without his rider Rajiv Maragh. One on the track, Maragh was on, then off, then finally on for good. At the break, favorite Quick Money went to the lead, but Wana Play (Bwana Charlie - Catbird Creek by Storm Creek) was right with him. Shrimp Dancer had a good spot behind these. Quick Money and Wana Play put up some quick fractions (:21.68, :45.90) and had little left late. Shrimp Dancer went to the front, but he was overtaken by Thundering Roar (Roaring Fever - Fabulous Gin by Go for Gin). However, coming between these two was Mr. Vegas (Freud - Lhotse by The Minstrel), who got to the wire first. Watch the Replay.
