Lots of Love for Cuqui

Guerrilla Warfare (Wind Whipper - Qillion by Saint Ballado) was scratched. Cuqui's Love (Afleet Alex - Chilukki Cat by Storm Cat) and entrymate La Sangre (Chelsey Cat - Edenton by Stuka) were favored. Vuelve Elene R. (Indian Ocean - Land Lady by Zamindar) looked good in the walking ring, but so did Cuqui's Love. La Sangre and Vuelve Elene R. (Indian Ocean - Land Lady by Zamindar) broke best, and dueled early on. Bethia (Victory Gallop - Awesome Joy by Awesome Again) was in third, while Cuqui's Love followed in fourth. Around the turn, Cuqui's Love began moving, quickly going past Bethia. She then swept by Vuelve Elene R., who had pulled away from a tiring La Sangre. Cuqui's Love drew off in the stretch for a comfortable victory. She is the 7th winner for Afleet Alex. Bonavento Plays with the Roulette Winner

Chief Counsel (Officer - Format by Furiously) was the big favorite, going off at less than even money. Roulette Winner (Rock Hard Ten - Clever Monique by Clever Trick) was getting no love at the windows, his final odds were 37-1. Baatesh (Pulpit - Doppio Espresso by Java Gold) looked good in the paddock, and Bonavento (Speightstown - Arianna's Passion by Unbridled's Song) looked ready for action. Roulette Winner appeared to be playing around a bit in the warm-up. Fayoum (Friends Lake - Katie Be Quick by Carson City) broke fastest, but Rein King (Roman Ruler - Postulant by Pulpit), Bonavento, and Baatesh were all involved. Bonavento wore down Fayoum to prevail by a neck. Chief Counsel made up ground late to grab third. Roulette Winner was off slow and never really got involved, although he did pass Swashbuckler (Orientate - Deaconess Bonnie by Pulpit) late. Watch the Replay.

Zilva Overtakes Kaila Ann's Kitten

The only scratches were the MTO entrants Thatsallshewrote (Yes It's True - Best Friend by Dr. Caton) and Isn't She Grand (Grand Reward - Crafty Atlantic by Crafty Prospector). Senada (Pulpit - Owsley by Harlan), daughter of grade II winner Owsley, was favored, going off at 2-1. Kaila Ann's Kitten (Kitten's Joy - One Lucky Storm by Tale of the Cat) was a respectable 8-1. Orchestrator (Bernstein - Lucky Socks by Temperance Hill) was looking good in the walking ring, while Zilva (Successful Appeal - Spellmaker by Storm Cat) was on her toes. C. C. Coco (Tiznow - Itsmylife by Storm Cat) warmed up strongly, but began acting up as they neared the gate. Kent Desormeaux had to hop off of her, but eventually they got her loaded. Orchestrator went to the front, and put some daylight between herself and the rest. Kaila Ann's Kitten was her closest pursuer. Securing a good spot was Zilva, who came up the rail in the stretch, to just take the victory by a neck. Senada rallied late to snatch 3rd from Kaila Ann's Kitten. By the way, C. C. Coco finished last. She used up most of her energy before the race. Watch the Replay.

Brian Sneaks Away from Nittany Kitten

Sonofabox (Outofthebox - Fall Season by Exploit) was a late scratch. El Flaco (Quarry - Get Up by Prenup) was favored and looked lively in the prelims. Nittany Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Teach by Pine Bluff) looked a little nervous, especially objecting to the addition of his rider. He was taking some money at the windows, however, going off at 7-2. At the break, it was El Flaco who seized the lead, pressed by Prophetable Prince (Wiseman's Ferry - Unbridled Princess by Unbridled's Song). These two battled into the stretch, when Brian's Sneakers (Ecton Park - Maxsi by American Chance) came running from off the pace. He split the two pacesetters and drove to the win. Nittany Kitten broke a little inward and trailed for most of the race, passing Raisethewildflag (Band Is Passing - Wild Raise by Wild Again) late. Watch the Replay.
