The Shrimp and the Kitty

News and Notes

Ciminella (Afleet Alex - Bruanna by Housebuster) was scratched from the 4th at Belmont. The winner of that one was Kitty in a Tizzy (Tiznow - Puma Kitten by Storm Cat), who was on the lead from the beginning, and who held off Chimayo (A. P. Indy - Chimichurri by Elusive Quality) by a head. Watch the Replay.

Whydah Holds Off La Cloche

The race stayed on the turf, so MTO Mama Said (Spanish Steps - Sweetness by Stormy Atlantic) was scratched. Also scratched was Souma (Mr. Greeley - Mountain Bonfire by Mt. Livermore). Key Quality (Elusive Quality - Forest Key by Green Forest) was favored, while La Cloche (Ghostzapper - Memories of Silver by Silver Hawk) was 7-1. Key Quality went to the front, but Far Isle (Indian Charlie - Meine Cosmos (IRE) by Caerleon) went right with her. These two dueled into the stretch, when Key Quality began to tire. But, Far Isle couldn't hold off Whydah (More Than Ready - Riverboat Miss by Storm Cat), who had been stalking the early pacesetters. La Cloche made up a lot of ground late to pick up second, despite drifting and running greenly. It was definitely an improvement over her first start, so hopefully we'll see her back on the turf. Watch the Replay.
