Lisa Triumphs at Belmont

News and Notes

Bishop's Head (Saint Liam - Blue Sky Princess by Conquistador Cielo) was scratched from his race at Laurel. The winner of that one was Cappiwino (Soto - Slow and Steady by Malibu Moon), who took the race by better than 10 lengths. Watch the Replay.

In addition to the entries below, group III winner Long Lashes (filly Rock Hard Ten - Border Dispute by Boundary) is entered in the group I Meon Valley Stud Fillies' Mile at Ascot. Last time out, she finished 4th in the group I Moyglare Stud Stakes on August 30, which was run on heavy ground at the Curragh.

First and Third for Lisa and Deanaallen

Rumpus Room (Eddington - Junkinthetrunk by Top Account), Flashy Flirt (Gulch - Our Exploit by Exploit), and MTO Happy Week (Distorted Humor - Lassie's Legacy by Deputy Minister) were scratched. AE Mrs. Stroud (Grand Slam - Gold Ransom by Red Ransom) got to run. Pearly Blue (Empire Maker - Western Ransom by Red Ransom) was favored. In Perpetuity (Bernstein - Hidle by Unbridled) was on her toes. Lisa's Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Chianti Red by Woodman) looked ready, Deanaallen'skitten (Kitten's Joy - Miss Carmella (IRE) by Carmelite House) looked a little unsure. Straight A Student (Posse - Dynamic Girl by Bold Executive) warmed up strong. Pearly Blue was a little reluctant at the gate. Then her rider hopped off, then the saddle came off. She was a late scratch. This left the Kitten entry as the favorite. Straight A Student came out running, along with In Perpetuity. That one let Straight A Student have the early advantage. Both Lisa's Kitten and Deanaallen'skitten were at the back. In Perpetuity took command in the stretch, building up a several length lead. Deanaallen'skitten made a big middle move to get into contention. March Mischief (Smart Strike - March Magic by Evansville Slew) was moving as well. But, moving best of all was Lisa's Kitten, who went past everybody for an easy triumph. Lisa's Kitten is winner number 14 for Kitten's Joy. Watch the Replay.

Three Emeralds Just Up

Lindsay's Memory (Gimmeawink - Allison's Eyes by Pine Bluff) and I Heard That Tune (Concorde's Tune - Draeh by Premiership) were scratched, which allowed AEs Three Emeralds (Three Wonders - Dish It to Me by West by West) and Barbehonor (Honor Glide - Barbs Colony by Cherokee Colony) to run. Three Emeralds was favored early, but Chavelisa (Macho Uno - Jackie Ramos by Afleet) was the post-time choice. My Alexis (Afleet Alex - Saint's Play by Saint Ballado) went off at 12-1. I didn't get to look at these much before the race, the only one that caught my eye was Jitterbug Jane (Texas Glitter - Jane's Halo by Quaker Ridge), she was better than 99-1 on the line. Chavelisa went for the early lead, while Ocean Ice (Indian Ocean - Keri's Snowman by Frosty the Snowman) was left at the break. Chasing the pacesetter was Jitterbug Jane. Those two dueled into the stretch, soon joined by a closing Three Emeralds. The three of them hit the wire together. The photo revealed Three Emeralds over Jitterbug Jane over Chavelisa. Jitterbug Jane paid $95.00 to place. And, no despite my observation, I didn't have a dime on her. My Alexis was off slowly, and never got involved much, but she did pass a few late to finish 9th.
