One Fast Bear

Bear's Hard Ten (Rock Hard Ten - Playforme by Gone West) and his entrymate Bear's a Winnah (Tapit - Lyd's a Winnah by Outflanker) were favored at 2-1. Powermouse (Kitten's Joy - Spent Gold by Unaccounted For) got little respect at 39-1. Bear's Hard Ten broke well, but Kirkland Lake (Pioneering - Miss Nureyev by Nureyev) took the early lead. Also up close were Giant's Tomb (Awesome Again - Song of the Wild by Gone West) and Devilwood (Devil His Due - Glory's Story by Defensive Play). Powermouse settled at the back. Bear's Hard Ten moved even with Kirkland Lake on the turn, and then powered on by. Big Time (Kafwain - Northglen by St. Jovite) put in a run, but Bear's Hard Ten was gone. Closing a lot ground late was Powermouse, who took third. Bear's Hard Ten has a huge stride, looks like he'll run all day. The seven furlongs didn't seem to take much out of him. Bear's Hard Ten is the third winner for Rock Hard Ten, and I've yet to see one of them live. However, I have seen most all of the losing efforts. Therefore, I think it might be my fault he doesn't have more winners. Watch the Replay.

Senor Rutledge Knows the Way by Itineris

Jack o' Roses (Domestic Dispute - Raffle by Polish Numbers) was scratched. Itineris (Afleet Alex - Kafaf by Zilzal) was the heavy favorite, going off at less than even money. Itsalladream (Hennessy - Dream Profit by Deputy Minister) looked good in the paddock, while Chief Silverhills (Eurosilver - Perfectly Awesome by Awesome Again) was a little anxious. Senor Rutledge (Johannesburg - Indy Ama by A. P. Indy) looked ready. Chief Silverhills was given a strong warm-up. There was a scramble for the lead as the gates opened. Theseus (Holy Bull - Bluff's Dividend by Sunny Clime) grabbed it, but he was soon overtaken by longshot D K's Wildcat (D'wildcat - Free Prospect by Fortunate Prospect). D K's Wildcat built up a sizable lead into the stretch, but he began lugging out, and the pack was catching up. Senor Rutledge was moving best, and he overtook D K's Wildcat for the victory. Surprisingly, D K's Wildcat held on for second. There were three in the photo for third, which Lucky Ten (Tenpins - Lucky Date by Pleasant Tap) took. Itineris was fourth. I think the fractions were a little slow for Itineris. He seems to need some pace to run at. Watch the Replay.
