The Strength of Krypton

The race was run on the good turf (this was before the deluge hit Belmont), and the only scratches were the MTOs. Extraextraordinary (Giant's Causeway - Scoop by Gone West) was favored. Romans Reward (Kitten's Joy - Knock Off by Fit to Fight) was second-choice, while Krypton (Rock Hard Ten - Freedom Reigns by Unbridled's Song) was 13-1, and Roulette Winner (Rock Hard Ten - Clever Monique by Clever Trick) was 43-1. Romans Reward looked good in the paddock. Extraextraordinary was hyped up in the post parade. Dixie Summer's (Grand Reward - Vopo by Theatrical (IRE)) balked at the load, and continued to act up once in the gate. Romans Reward and Krypton both went for the early lead, it went to Krypton. Romans Reward stuck close, as did Wow Wow Wow (Broken Vow - Caged Glory by Honour and Glory). Our other runner, Roulette Winner (Rock Hard Ten - Clever Monique by Clever Trick) was at the back. In the stretch, it looked for a time that Romans Reward would go by Krypton, but Krypton kept on going, resulting in a nice Maiden Watch exacta. Hopefully, I wasn't the only one who had it. Roulette Winner ran 9th the whole way round. The only horse making up any ground in this race was Formulaforsuccess (Broken Vow - Swimmingly by Nashwan), who got up for 4th. He's now on everyone's one to watch list. Krypton is the 4th winner for Rock Hard Ten, and his second winner in 2 days. Watch the Replay.

In the Money Holds off New Year's Baby

You Are Current (Alex's Pal - She's Unreal by Unreal Zeal) was scratched, along with AEs Myah's Summer (Eurosilver - Ceely's Classic by Always a Classic) and Creemore (Whiskey Wisdom - Lake Mills Lady by Cryptoclearance). Perfect Angel (Richter Scale - Double Halo by Southern Halo) and In the Money (Buddha - Made of Money by Mt. Livermore) received most of the attention from the bettors. New Year's Baby (Afleet Alex - You Again by Wild Again) was ignored at 30-1. Sister Friend (Mineshaft - My Pal Lana by Kris S.) made a good impression, Myah's Flight (Victory Gallop - Brook's Approval by Montbrook) looked good on the track. The break was pretty even, Perfect Angel emerged with the lead. New Year's Baby was at the back of the leading pack. Sister Friend and Mrs. Cleaver (Broken Vow - Falling Snow by Deputy Minister) were chasing Perfect Angel. In the Money, who was never far off, made her move on the turn. Also moving was New Year's Baby, who was very wide, but was making up lots of ground. In the Money hit the front and got the win, but New Year's Baby got all way up to second and was gaining on the winner. A nice debut for New Year's Baby.
