Negligee Breezes in the Alcibiades

She Be Wild (Offlee Wild - Trappings by Seeking the Gold) was 3-2, Beautician (Dehere - Caroni by Rubinano) was 2-1. Everyone else was a generous price, including Quick Breeze (Ghostzapper - Quick Temper by A. P. Indy) at 60-1. Quick Breeze looked anxious in the paddock. She Be Wild looked good, Beautician appeared ready. Tidal Pool (Yankee Gentleman - Sea Rhythm by Deputy Minister) and Decelerator (Dehere - Paris Rose by Accelerator) went for the early lead, although they weren't going that quick up there (:24.32, :48.97). She Be Wild (Offlee Wild - Trappings by Seeking the Gold), who was never far off the top pair, made her move in the stretch. She hit the front and seemed home free. However, Negligee (Northern Afleet - Naughty Notions by Relaunch) wore her down in the late stages to score a clear victory. Closing ground impressively late was Zilva (Successful Appeal - Spellmaker by Storm Cat), who started slow, but made it all the way up to fourth. Quick Breeze never ran a step, trailing the whole way round. Watch the Replay.

Take a Hard Look at Mr. Saturdaynight

Setsuko (Pleasantly Perfect - Dance With Grace by Mr. Prospector) was favored, but everyone apart from Lightnin' Up (Tenpins - Spritz by Relaunch), was given a good chance by the bettors. Take a Hard Look (Rock Hard Ten - Arjunand by Diesis (GB)) went off at 5-1. It was a fairly even start. Magic Max (Yes It's True - Chelsie's House by Housebuster) gained the early advantage. Mr. Saturdaynight (Grand Reward - Here Comes Chelsie by Dehere), Setsuko, and Take a Hard Look were a pack just off the leader. Take a Hard Look made the first move. Coming up on the outside, he gained a slight advantage over Magic Max. Meanwhile, Setsuko was rallying up the rail. But, it was Mr. Saturdaynight between horses that was finishing best and he got the win. Mr. Saturdaynight is the 14th winner for Grand Reward. Watch the Replay.

The Honkeytonk Rules the Cat

This one was taken off of the turf and run at a mile on the main track, which was listed as good. The filly B G Miss Meimy (Memo (CHI) - Stefandrew by Skywalker) was scratched. Homeisahonkeytonk (Midway Road - Firey Fortune by Fuego Seguro) was favored, going off around even money. Cat Ruler (Kitten's Joy - Grindstone Lassie by Grindstone) was 3-1, and was on his toes and the favorite looked good. Homeisahonkeytonk went right to the lead. Dynaism (Dynameaux - Maude Rose by Shadeed) stuck with him in the early going. But after a quick opening quarter (:22.98), Homeisahonkeytonk began to pull away. Storm Tuner (Storm and a Half - Tunita by Tunerup) made a little run in the stretch, but Homeisahonkeytonk was long gone. The final margin was better than 18 lengths. Storm Tuner was a clear second, but there wasn't much separating 3rd through 6th. Cat Ruler was among that group in 5th. I would really like to see Cat Ruler on the turf, this is the second time in a row that his race has come off of that surface. Watch the Replay.
