Finding Some Justice

The turf was firm. Everyone went in the main body of the race, so AE Timely Pursuit (Purge - Tradition of Time by Half Term) stayed in the barn. Faction (Smart Strike - End of Story by Sky Classic) was favored, Mountain Justice (Afleet Alex - Just Fun by Dehere) was 8-1. He was adding blinkers, and looked calm in his stall. Why Not Be Perfect (Whywhywhy - Perfect Time by Matchlite) was showing some pep in the paddock. Nitecap (Montbrook - Late Nite Fan by Diablo) was on edge as they approached the gate and Max Me Out (Max's Pal - Tambien Me Voy by Orono) was fidgety as he waited to load. Faction reared in the gate just before they were sent away. Random Move (Empire Maker - Secret Partner by Rahy) broke on top, but settled off of the pace. Southern Saint (Stormy Atlantic - Silvercity Lady by Silver Charm) took the lead instead. Nitecap was chasing, with Max Me Out involved as well. Mountain Justice was sitting around mid-pack. Mountain Justice came rolling on the outside and swept to the lead. He kept on running, finishing 8 ahead of the rest. A very impressive turf debut for this one. Watch the Replay.

Queen of the Turf

The only scratch from the main body of the race was Lady Lava (Slew City Slew - Maybe Cora by Our Emblem). The AEs and the MTO were also out. The turf was firm. Queen of the Creek (Theatrical (IRE) - Miasma by Lear Fan) was the favorite. Lyrique (Rock Hard Ten - America America by Mister Baileys (GB)) was 4-1, and Lady Laurie Snow (Afleet Alex - Roused by Saint Ballado) was 15-1. Maestro Miss (Bernstein - Changeable by Miswaki) looked good in the paddock. Lady Laurie looked ready for action, but she was off slowly once again at the break. Someothertime (Bernstein - Stedes Wonder by Native Royalty) took the early lead, with Baby Sister (Tale of the Cat - Twice Tempted by Wild Again) pressing. Lyrique was in a good spot in fourth. Queen of the Creek was wide, but she was coming. She drew clear and won by 2. Up in Lights (Smart Strike - Future Starlet by Theatrical (IRE)) also moved late to finish second. Lyrique finished a decent third. Lady Laurie Snow ended up 7th. Watch the Replay.

Calling a Truce Over Kijo

The AEs were out, everyone else was ready to go. Vanishing Buck (Point Given - Our Honoree by Danzig) took the early money, but Kijo (Kitten's Joy - Sunday Sport by Honour and Glory) was favored at post time. Vanishing Buck was acting up a bit as they loaded. Hi Tide Boy (Act of Duty - Sweap Clean by End Sweep) seemed to shy at the birds on the track. Well Talented (Sligo Bay (IRE) - Sassy Frassy by Local Talent) was unhappy too. Kijo was gunning early with Vanishing Buck the closest pursuer. The first quarter was a quick :22.89. The half was more reasonable at :47.82, but the first quarter took its toll, and Vanishing Buck moved on by. Nordic Truce (Yes It's True - Nyramba (GB) by Night Shift) looked to be the threat. He was rolling on the outside and went by everyone for a nice debut win. Teaks North (Northern Afleet - Teaksberry Road by High Honors) took second over Vanishing Buck, while Kijo tired to 4th. She is Doggone

The track was muddy, Kinkora (Macho Uno - Top of the League by Lite the Fuse) and Sortilege (Tale of the Cat - Competent Sort by Cahill Road) were scratched. Inner Groove (Rock Hard Ten - Secret Ballad by Saint Ballado) was part of a favored entry with Sure as Gold (Touch Gold - Field of Glory by Meadowlake). Conspicuous (Ghostzapper - Kalahari Cat by Cape Town) was 30-1. I thought Market Collapse (Eurosilver - Basta Barbara by Great Gladiator) looked best in the post parade, but She'll Be Doggone (Gone West - Pate Maison by Polish Numbers) also gave a favorable impression. Sure as Gold went to the early lead. Inner Groove was 5th, and Conspicuous was near the back. In the stretch, Sure as Gold began to tire and drifted out. She'll Be Doggone got through on the inside to take the win. Very Sweet (Congaree - Sweet Charity by A. P. Indy) came on the outside to pick up second. Sure as Gold was third. Making up a lot of ground to finish 4th was Provence (Empire Maker - Versailles Treaty by Danzig), who had pretty much walked out of the gate. Inner Groove ran evenly, finishing 5th. Conspicuous picked up some places late for 6th. Watch the Replay.

Kettle River Runs Over Saintly Seoul

The turf was firm and there were no scratches. Body Builder (Horse Chestnut (SAF) - Work Out Queen by Fit to Fight) was favored. Saintly Seoul (Saint Liam - Seoul by Deputy Minister) was finally getting some respect at the windows, going off at 3-1. Longshot Full Effect (Swiss Yodeler - La Fresa by Cozzene) went to the lead early, but Saintly Seoul and Kettle River (Congaree - La Grande Mamma by Compadre) were up there as well. Full Effect gave it up after 6 furlongs and Kettle River moved to the lead. Coming on late was Royal Import (Royal Applause (GB) - Flamingo Queen by Surumu (GER)), who snatched second from Saintly Seoul. This was the third straight time that Saintly Seoul has finished third on the turf. Watch the Replay.

Silver Crafts a Win

The track was fast, and the only scratch was D'Fever (D'wildcat - Brandy Fever by Formal Dinner). Newcomer Island Soul (Perfect Soul (IRE) - Copper Belle by Carson City) took the early money, but the experienced Mister Thayer (Victory Gallop - Wavering Rhythm by Flying Pidgeon) was a slight favorite at post time. New Madrid (Rock Hard Ten - Back to Earth by Theatrical (IRE)) was 31-1. Another one with experience was Silver Craft (Value Plus - Crafty Casa by Crafty Prospector), who is a sharp looking gray. New Madrid was bucking as they came onto the track. Silver Craft outjumped everyone out of the gate, but Larry's Vision (Pollard's Vision - Beg Borrow n Steal by Sham) took the early lead. He seemed to be running off a bit. New Madrid was up in third early. Silver Craft kept Larry's Vision in his sight, and moved by as they came to the stretch and then drew off to an impressive 6+ length victory. Warrant Ofc. Cook (Arch - Divine by Topsider) came up the inside to get second. Island Soul, who ended up third, bumped with New Madrid, and that one didn't really recover after that, finishing 6th.
