It's Spooky

Ghost Girl (Ghostzapper - Bayou Breeze by A. P. Indy) was the 1-5 choice in this one. She looked good in the paddock, ready for action. Yuma (Thunder Gulch - Notable Craft by Notebook) was a bit agitated. Saint Conga (Congaree - Saint Believe It by Saint Ballado) looked good on the track. Ghost Girl went right to the lead, but she wasn't in a big hurry. Beautiful Zora (Dance Master - Beautiful Dance by Sword Dance (IRE)) was pressing, and then moved on ahead, establishing a clear lead. In the stretch, however, Ghost Girl took over and pulled away to an easy 3 3/4 length victory. Ghost Girl became winner number 8 for Ghostzapper with this nice turf triumph. Watch the Replay.

The Prince gets by the Shore

The only scratches were the AEs. Exxel (Gulch - Colony Bay by Pleasant Colony) was favored, while Westshore (Saint Liam - Alexi Dancer by A. P. Indy) was 9-1. He was adding blinkers for this start. In Just We Trust (Forest Danger - Trust Fund by Conquistador Cielo) looked good as they went out to the track. Westshore was looking a little eager. Westshore broke well and secured a rail spot, sitting about fourth. There was a scramble up front. Longshots Almost Summer (Consolidator - Summer of Seventy by El Prado (IRE)) and Midnight Vigil (Strong Hope - Miss Moonlight by Broad Brush) were up there, as was Moonlark (Gone West - Laptop by Phone Trick). Moonlark emerged with the lead, Westshore was sitting right behind him. In Just We Trust came on the outside and went to the front. But, Westshore got through on the inside and he took the lead. However, they were both passed by Pleasant Prince (Indy King - Archduchess by Pleasant Tap), who closed with a rush for the win. Westshore held second. He seems like a grinder to me, not a great turn of foot, but trying hard. Watch the Replay.

Striking It Rich over Roca Sweet

The turf was firm, only the AEs were out. Something interesting was going on with the odds for Roca Sweet (Rock Hard Ten - Sugar N Spice by Strike the Anvil). First flash that I saw, she was 8-1. Then, she plummeted to 3-2. At post time, she was almost 7-1. It seemed like someone put a large sum of money on her. The favorite when they went in the gate was Strike It Rich (Unbridled's Song - Belle of Perintown by Dehere). Roca Sweet looked good in the paddock. Another that caught my eye was Dixie Ocean (Indian Ocean - Dixieland Event by Wild Event). At the break, Roca Sweet went right to the lead. She had some pressure from Super Girlie (Closing Argument - Beafleet by Afleet), but she shook free from that one. Strike It Rich was coming, however, and she moved by on the turn, winning by better than 4. Kate's Holiday (Harlan's Holiday - Eishin Ontario by Phone Trick) came late to get second, and Roca Sweet held third. Watch the Replay.
