Apple Charlotte has no Manners

Wicked Charm (Ghostzapper - Belva by Theatrical (IRE)) was scratched, as was AE Dehere She Goes (Dehere - Coronado's Queen by Coronado's Quest). On the other hand, AE Spidawoman (Macho Uno - Chubbs by Gold Crest) got to run. The turf was firm. Apple Charlotte (Smart Strike - Charlotte Augusta by Chief's Crown) took most of the attention from the bettors, going off at 1-5. Manners (Rock Hard Ten - Turkana by Deputy Minister) was respected, 4-1 at post time. Seaside Slew (Alajwad - Slewperlative by Slewpy) broke through the gate before the start. She was quickly apprehended, but was a late scratch. Manners looked good during the wait to reload. Academy Allie (Royal Academy - Danzig Tiger by Danzig Connection) held the early lead, clear lengths in front of the rest. Castleintheclouds (Cashel Castle - Curious Granny by How Curious) and Sin Bin (Toccet - Bridal Glow by Runaway Groom) were the nearest pursuers. Apple Charlotte was in mid-pack at this point, and Manners was sticking close to her. Apple Charlotte made a move on the turn, with Manners shadowing her. Apple Charlotte took the lead and won by better than 5, despite running greenly. Manners was the best of the rest, taking second. Spidawoman rallied a bit for third. Nice win for Apple Charlotte, but a much improved race for Manners as well. Watch the Replay.

Liteasaire Soars

Miss Nepal (Maria's Mon - Dami by Dynaformer), entrymate of Liteasaire (Purge - School of Deelites by Afternoon Deelites), was scratched. First-timer Tap Tap Tapping (Tapit - Senorita Spike by El Gran Senor) took the early money, but Ultimate Life (A. P. Indy - Dream Time by Storm Cat) was favored at post time. Native Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Native Belle by Forestry) was almost 6-1. Liteasaire looked lively in the paddock, but Dubai Indeed (E Dubai - Sharp Deed by Shadeed) also caught my eye. At the break, Dubai Indeed took a brief lead, but was soon passed by Goldbud (Buddha - Sweet Gold by Gilded Time) and she set the early fractions. Liteasaire was sticking close. Native Kitten was in the picture for awhile, but she steadied on the first turn and faded after that, finishing 6th. In the stretch, Litesasire took command, drawing off to a 5 1/4 length victory. Making a good run late was Wickedology (Wild and Wicked - Ecology by Unbridled's Song), the half-sister to General Quarters. She bobbled at the start, steadied on the turn, and still got up for second. Favorite Ultimate Life settled for third. Liteasaire is winner number 14 for Purge. Watch the Replay.

SAK MAN

Wildcat Heir sets freshman sire record for winners.

If you recall a year ago when you asked for suggestions for first crop sires to follow in 2009 I suggested Florida stallion Wildcat Heir.

Here is my selection for 2010, another Florida based stallion.

With Distinction who stands at Hartley/DeRenzo Stud in Florida.

I have observed many of his yearlings at auction this year and as nice as Wildcat Heir's yearlings looked last year, With Distinction's yearlings look outstanding.

Sak Man - Congratulations on picking Wildcat Heir. You bring up a good point. It will soon be time to vote for next year's stallions, so I welcome everyone's suggestions. We'll will narrow these down by vote. I will expand on this further in an upcoming blog.
