Lakeside Chapel Finds Her Inner Groove Over Sambista

The turf was firm. Hot Cappucino (Medaglia d'Oro - Warm the Drum by Kingmambo) and the MTOs were scratched. AE Mama Said (Spanish Steps - Sweetness by Stormy Atlantic) got to run. The bettors had trouble settling on a favorite, with Inner Groove (Rock Hard Ten - Secret Ballad by Saint Ballado) getting the lukewarm 3-1 nod at post time. On the other hand, Sambista (Afleet Alex - French Braids by Personal Flag) went off at close to 98-1. Goalkeeper (Arch - Mood Music by Kingmambo) was feisty in the post parade. Secret Glade (Hennessy - Meadow Vista by Meadowlake) warmed up strong. Inner Groove was not happy at the load. They loaded her sans jockey, but she continued to act up. Then Secret Glade acted up. She was backed out of the gate, and was a late scratch. A couple of other horses were backed out as well, including Sambista, but they loaded them back quickly and set them on their way. Inner Groove went for the early lead, Sambista was at the back. Lakeside Chapel (Chapel Royal - Ceridwen by Lord Avie) moved alongside Inner Groove, and then took the lead. She continued to increase her advantage, as Inner Groove followed in second. It's Tea Time (Dynaformer - Prof. McGonagall by Storm Cat) and Portend (Sky Mesa - Ayers Rock by Slew the Knight) came running late, but there was no catching Lakeside Chapel. Inner Groove was just nipped for third. Sambista never got on track, running 11th the whole way. Watch the Replay.

Bwana's Brave

The turf was firm. The Sun Demon (Closing Argument - Brand New Gator by Vicksburg) was scratched, as well as AEs Hudson Landing (Maria's Mon - Morning Star by Shotiche) and Rascallion (Hold That Tiger - Zuppa by Woodman). AE Let's Do It (El Prado (IRE) - Nephele by Deputy Commander) drew into the race. Bwana Brave (Bwana Charlie - Fire Feet by Lacotte (IRE)) took the early money, but Five Fifty Five (Loup Solitaire - Lacewings by Forty Niner) was favored at post time. He looked good in the paddock. Nicetoseey'again (Saint Liam - O K to Dance by With Approval) was 13-1. Tooth and Nail (Eddington - Acqualina by Pulpit) was on his toes. Nicetoseey'again had some pep on the track, and he was tossing his head in the starting gate. Notoriety (Maria's Mon - Wittenberg by Relaunch) and Let's Do It went for the early lead. King Prada (El Prado (IRE) - King's Interest by Kingmambo) was chasing in third. Nicetoseey'again was around mid-pack. It continued to be Let's Do It and Notoriety into the stretch, when first Toro Santo (Holy Bull - Dynamic Reaction by Dynaformer) and then Bwana Brave (Bwana Charlie - Fire Feet by Lacotte (IRE)) came running. Bwana Brave was going best between horses, and got the victory by a clear length. Nicetoseey'again finished in 7th, the leader of the second pack. He probably thinks that he won. Watch the Replay.

Amazingly, we have no Maiden Special Weight entries for January 30 (although I am in the process of moving horses to a different account, so it is possible that I missed someone). So, I'll preview the Stakes and Allowance entries in more depth than usual.
