Stakes Result

Dean's Kitten (colt; Kitten's Joy - Summer Theatre by Ide) was rank early in the Hallandale Beach Stakes at Gulfstream. He did start running late and just missed third, finishing 4th. The winner was Bim Bam over big favorite Interactif. Watch the Replay. Read more about the Hallandale Beach here.

La Gran Victory

The track was fast, Hottie Dancer (Distorted Humor - Pike Place Dancer by Seattle Dancer) was the only scratch. Between Raindrops (A. P. Indy - Beaucette by Mr. Prospector) was favored. La Gran Bailadora (Afleet Alex - Affirmed Dancer by Affirmed) was 7-1, and Go Ask Alex (Afleet Alex - Dominique's Joy by Strawberry Road (AUS)) was 11-1. First-timer Wild Soiree (Fusaichi Pegasus - Nice Dancing by Bering (GB)) made a good impression. Go Ask Alex looked ready, La Gran Bailadora was calm, cool, and collected. Between Raindrops was acting up a bit in the gate, but she got away well. She went to the lead, but Go Ask Alex was right with her. Church View (Quiet American - Holy Belle by Holy Bull) was watching the duel in third, while La Gran Bailadora had a nice rail spot. Church View made her move in the stretch, and hit the lead. But, La Gran Bailadora, who had been switched to the outside, was coming. She swept by the leaders, and won by better than 2-lengths. I was really glad to see her get the win. I've had a soft spot for La Gran Bailadora ever since her debut, when she was kicking up a storm at the load. They have been using a blanket on her in the gate since then, and it seems to have really helped. Go Ask Alex tired to 5th, but a decent effort from her as well. Watch the Replay.

A Taconic Victory

The track was fast and there were no scratches. Star of Sapphire (Tapit - Rhumb Line by Mr. Greeley), who is one of those pretty gray Tapits, was favored. Seeking the Ghost (Ghostzapper - Questress by Seeking the Gold) was 6-1, and Straw Flower (Afleet Alex - Arlucea by Broad Brush) went off at 72-1. Straw Flower is a delicate-looking thing. Entwine (Empire Maker - Flute by Seattle Slew) made a good impression. There was some buzz about Seeking the Ghost, who was 15-1 on the morning-line. The break was eventful, Souma (Mr. Greeley - Mountain Bonfire by Mt. Livermore) ducked through the temporary rail leaving the gap and lost Joe Bravo. She seemed fine, galloping along with the pack. Among those still in the race, Seeking the Ghost was on top, pressed by Entwine and Star of Sapphire. Entwine began to fade, but Seeking the Ghost and Star of Sapphire continued on. However, they were powerless against Taconic Victory, who rallied wide for an easy victory. Cat Be Nimble (Tale of the Cat - Capote's Niner by Capote) and So Explosive (Mineshaft - Awesome by Storm Cat) gained late to pick up second and third, while Seeking the Ghost faded to fourth. Straw Flower didn't show much, trailing early and then finishing 5th, but she did beat favorite Star of Sapphire. Watch the Replay.

A Dynamic Run for Barbie

The turf was good and the only scratches were the Also-Eligibles. Hot Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Tabby Cat by Tabasco Cat) was the early tepid favorite, but Go Gone Girl (Eurosilver - Beech Baby by Dixie Brass) got the nod at post time. Rochelle Rochelle (Mizzen Mast - Slewville by Petionville) objected to being saddled. Blazing Sasha (Langfuhr - Blazing Kadie by Our Native) made a favorable impression. Tuscan Moon (Mizzen Mast - Secret Pact by Private Account) looked good on the track. Go Gone Girl protested at the load. The rider hopped off and she loaded. Hot Kitten stumbled slightly at the start, and trailed the field. My Sister Jess (Sligo Bay (IRE) - Jewell of Jewels by Pleasant Colony) took a slight lead, hounded by Go Gone Girl. That one had the lead by the second call. She sprinted away to lead by several lengths. Hot Kitten was way back, but she was running. Dynamic Barbie (Roman Ruler - Tale of a Dream by Tale of the Cat) made a move from back in the pack and rolled by the pacesetter. She won by more than 4, despite trying to get to the outside rail. Entomology (Yankee Gentleman - Bugsy Mae by Zen) also finished well to end up second. Hot Kitten wound up 5th. Watch the Replay.
