Afleet Again (colt; Afleet Alex - Lucky Again by Wild Again) finished a closing second in the Whirlaway Stakes at Aqueduct behind Peppi Knows. However, the big story of the race was the bolting of favorite Eightyfiveinafifty, which may have been caused by a broken bit. Watch the Replay. Read more about the Whirlaway here.

Yes, Alex is Fast

Endorsement (Distorted Humor - Charmed Gift by A. P. Indy) was scratched, which left Fast Alex (Afleet Alex - Unaffordable by Unbridled) to break from the rail. Berberis (Southern Image - Miss Puzzle (AUS) by Citidancer (IRE)) was favored, Fast Alex was 5-2, St Liams Halo (Saint Liam - Foolishly by Broad Brush) was 7-1, and Sheltowee (Saint Liam - Crafty Oak by Crafty Prospector) was 12-1. St Liams Halo was looking good in the paddock. Sheltowee was a little fidgety in the post parade. Fast Alex looked ready for action. St Liams Halo went right to the lead, with Elkhorn Creek (Distorted Humor - Settling Mist by Pleasant Colony) the nearest pursuer. Fast Alex had a good spot in 4th, Sheltowee was at the back. St Liams Halo began to tire in the stretch, and both Elkhorn Creek and Berberis got by him. However, moving best of all was Fast Alex, who came through on the rail to secure the win. It was also a nice debut for St Liams Halo, who ended up fourth after making most of the pace. It was another dull effort for Sheltowee, who finished 6th. Watch the Replay.

It's a Day of Destiny

Trinity Run (Ghostzapper - Lake Windermere by Fit to Fight) was scratched. Nadal (Grand Slam - My Sea Castles by Polish Navy) was favored, but Day of Destiny (Distorted Humor - Sweet Lips by Kris S.) took a decent amount of money as well. Saturday in May (Afleet Alex - Chelsey Dancer by Affirmed) was 13-1. He made a very nice appearance in the paddock. Pow Wow (Indian Charlie - Doctor Danielle by Spectacular Bid) was looking good as well, and it was hard to find fault with Nadal. Saturday in May continued to look good warming up on the track. Chasing Ted (Lion Heart - Simply Runaway by Runaway Groom) broke best and set the early pace. Liquidity Event (Eddington - Appealing Jewel by Saint Ballado) was chasing. Saturday in May was in a decent spot on the rail. Chasing Ted continued to lead, but Day of Destiny began to gain. He got to Chasing Ted and went on by, winning by a length. Pow Wow gained a bit late to take third. Saturday in May was 5th. Watch the Replay.

A Lonesome Street Away from Kerouac

The turf was good, scratched were Rascallion (Hold That Tiger - Zuppa by Woodman) and MTO entrant Monte (D'wildcat - C B Carm by Slick). AE Person of Interest (Tapit - Oriole Way by Cahill Road) made it into the race. Sea of Sea (Fantastic Light - Element of Truth by Atticus) was favored. Kerouac (Rock Hard Ten - Coronation Cup by Chief's Crown) was 20-1. Person of Interest made a good impression. Kerouac towered over the field (literally). Sea of Sea looked good in the warm-up, and he took the early lead, pursued by True Heaven (Yes It's True - Sky Minister by Conquistador Cielo). Also close-up was Dynamic Royal (Chapel Royal - Dynaco by Dynaformer). Lonesome Street (Broken Vow - Street Cat by Storm Cat) and Beau Choix (Elusive Quality - Belle Cherie by Belong to Me) both made moves in the stretch, but Lonesome Street had first jump and drew off to a 2-length victory. Kerouac improved his position to finish 7th, but didn't have any impact on the placings. Watch the Replay.

Center Divider Didn't Tell Kitten

The turf was yielding, Roman Legend (Roman Ruler - Wonder Legend by Touch Gold), Time Trial (Maria's Mon - Count to Six by Saratoga Six), Roar of the Surge (Roar of the Tiger - Crinum Maid by Slew Gin Fizz), and Werblin's Sun (Werblin - Sun Skier by Appealing Skier) were scratched. Center Divider (Giant's Causeway - Meridiana (GER) by Lomitas (GER)) was the heavy favorite, Dont Tell Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Misinformer by Dynaformer) was 5-1. Hey Drew (Drewman - Krissi O. by Thirty Eight Paces) was a handful in the walking ring. Ponzi (Closing Argument - Hanyah by Hansel) was on his toes. El Commodore (El Prado (IRE)) - Fancy Clancy by Rahy) looked good to me, but he always does and has yet to hit the board. Meteor Streak (Roaring Fever - All My Dreams by Manlove) was also catching my eye. Dont Tell Kitten was not happy about going into the gate. They finally got him in and the feed was partially lost. When, the feed came back, they were backing all the horses out. Dont Tell Kitten fussed again at the reload. The break was something to see, horses going every which way. El Commodore and Ponzi (Closing Argument - Hanyah by Hansel) battled for the lead, Dont Tell Kitten was at the back. Battle Music (Bernstein - Free Fantasy by Wild Again) made a move on the outside, and got to the lead in the stretch. But, he couldn't hold off favorite Center Divider, who pulled clear for the win. Dont Tell Kitten trailed throughout. He left his race at the starting gate. We'll have to wait for another day to see if he has any talent. Watch the Replay.

Afleet Again ran a great race! I knew the odds 30-1 were bogus. And Afleet Again proved that! Wait till his next race. Alex's kids only get better! And Fast Alex proved that too. Of course Afleet Alex fans already know that!
