Lots of action for February 20, with eight horses in six maiden special races, and five stakes entries. I may be a little tweeter-challenged, since several of the races are scheduled to go off very close together, but I'll do my best.

The turf was firm, and the only scratch was MTO Seeking the Title (Seeking the Gold - Title Seeker by Monarchos). How Far to Heaven (Distorted Humor - Beyond Venus by War Chant) was favored, Go Ask Alex (Afleet Alex - Dominique's Joy by Strawberry Road (AUS)) was 6-1. Moneigh (Maria's Mon - Annatoga by Concorde's Tune) looked good in the paddock, as did Go Ask Alex. Harpoon Hattie (Tiznow - Hardy Har Har by Storm Cat) was on her toes. How Far to Heaven was animated in the post parade. She went to the early lead, pursued by Go Ask Alex and Harpoon Hattie. Life Begins (Unbridled's Song - Shining Through by Deputy Minister) moved up on the outside to take second. How far to Heaven and Life Begins were 1-2 for a time, but Life Begins faded to 7th. Late on the scene was Atwitter (Distorted Humor - Alchemist by A. P. Indy), who went by everyone for the victory. Go Ask Alex lacked punch late, and ended up 5th. Watch the Replay.

Grade II winner Buddy's Saint (colt; Saint Liam - Tuzia by Blushing John) makes his seasonal debut in the 1 1/8 mile Fountain of Youth (gr. II) at Gulfstream. Post time is 5:40 PM ET. Buddy's Saint finished first in his debut at Belmont on September 26, but was disqualified and placed second. He then won the mile Nashua Stakes (gr. II) on November 7, and the 1 1/8 mile Remsen Stakes (gr. II) on November 28. Both of those races were at Aqueduct. He has been working at Gulfstream Park for several months, including 6 furlongs in 1:13.40 on February 14. Personally, I love to see 6 furlong works. Buddy's Saint is at the top of many Derby lists, but he has to prove himself outside of New York. Read more about the Fountain of Youth here.

Mountain Justice (colt; Afleet Alex - Just Fun by Dehere) faces 11 in the 1 1/16 mile Risen Star at Fair Grounds, post time 5:43 PM ET. Mountain Justice broke his maiden in his second start, a mile race on the turf at Fair Grounds on November 15. He then finished second in a mile Allowance/Optional Claiming race on December 28. That race was also on the Fair Grounds turf. He has been working at the Fair Grounds to prepare for his 2010 debut, including 4 furlongs in :50.40 on February 16. Read more about the Risen Star here.

Grade I winner Dublin (colt; Afleet Alex - Classy Mirage by Storm Bird) will try once again to make his 3-year old debut in the mile Southwest Stakes (gr. III) at Oaklawn Park, which was rescheduled after being canceled on February 15. Post time is 6:02 PM ET. The cast remains the same, but this time Dublin has been assigned post 3. Dubin won the Hopeful Stakes (gr. I) on September 7 at Saratoga, and then finished 5th in the Champagne (gr. I) on October 10 at Belmont, and 7th in the Iroquois Stakes (gr. III) at Churchill Downs on November 1. He had surgery to correct an entrapped epiglottis at the end of the year, and has been working at Oaklawn to prepare for his return. His most recent work was February 17, when he went 4 furlongs in :48.20. Read more about the Southwest Stakes here.

Stakes winner Lisa's Kitten (filly; Kitten's Joy - Chianti Red by Woodman) faces a full field in the mile Valdale Stakes at Turfway Park, post time 5:19 PM ET. This will be her 2010 debut. At 2, she broke her maiden at a mile and a sixteenth on the Belmont turf on September 25, and then won the M2 Technology La Senorita Stakes on the turf at Retama on October 24. She finished the year with a 10th in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies turf, and an 8th in Caressing at a mile on the Churchill turf on November 28. This will be her first try on Polytrack. She has been working at Turfway, including 5 furlongs in 1:03.40 on February 2.

Ghost Girl (filly; Ghostzapper - Bayou Breeze by A. P. Indy) runs in the China Doll Stakes, at a mile on the Santa Anita turf. Post time is 7:07 PM ET. Ghost Girl has run twice, finishing 3rd at 6 furlongs on the Hawthorne dirt on November 6, and winning a mile contest on the Hawthorne turf on November 22. That race must have impressed someone, because she is running for new connections in this stakes race. She has been working at Hollywood since mid-January, including 5 furlongs in 1:01.20 on February 14.
