A Hurricane is Coming

We had our first Rockport Harbor worker today, as Hurricane Harbor (colt; Rockport Harbor - Sweet Sixteen by Montbrook) went 1 furlong in :13.00 at Hollywood Park. Hurricane Harbor sold for $14,500 as a yearling, and is out of stakes winner Sweet Sixteen. Sweet Sixteen has produced 3 winners from 3 to run.

Vee for Victory

Jack in the Cat (Tale of the Cat - Duck Trap by Affirmed) was scratched from the main body of the race, so AE Hot Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Tabby Cat by Tabasco Cat) got to run. However, Fantasma (Ghostzapper - Cindy's Hero by Sea Hero) had to stay in the barn. The other AEs were also out. Vee (Leroidesanimaux (BRZ) - Vallera (GER) was the big favorite, going off at near even-money. Hot Kitten was almost 6-1, and Ahh (Saint Liam - Ministrada by Deputy Minister) was 7-1. Hot Kitten looked good in the walking ring. Belle Breeze (Powerscourt (GB) - Le Grand Belle by With Approval) made a positive impression in the post parade. Vee was a little reluctant to load. The rider got off and that seemed to work better. Big longshot (120-1) Stage Kiss (Stage Colony - Iddy Biddy Dollar by Spend a Buck) set the early pace. The closest pursuers were Rendition (A. P. Indy - Ensenada by Seeking the Gold), Belle Breeze, and Vee. Ahh had a nice rail spot. The early pace was slow, :25.17, :51.23, 1:16.38. The real running began in the stretch. Vee was swung outside to go after the pacesetter, and moved on by. Southern Blues (Galileo (IRE) - Nicole and Krista (IRE) by Machiavellian) was moving late and took second. Rendition was around for third. Ahh and Hot Kitten finished 5th and 6th. Watch the Replay.

It's Tea Time

The turf was firm, scratched were It's Jo Jo (Johannesburg - Decompressed by Crafty Prospector), Portend (Sky Mesa - Ayers Rock by Slew the Knight), and AEs Giant Success (Giant's Causeway - Simadartha by Gone West) and Mari Gold Girl (Sligo Bay (IRE) - Honey Eyed by Lite the Fuse). Deanaallen'skitten (Kitten's Joy - Miss Carmella (IRE) by Carmelite House) was the odds-on choice. Saint Amore (Saint Liam - Amaretta by Woodman) was 28-1. It's Tea Time (Dynaformer - Prof. McGonagall by Storm Cat) looked good in the paddock. Deanaallen'skitten looked ready. Pearly Blue (Empire Maker - Western Ransom by Red Ransom) looked nice on the track. Alluring Power (Milwaukee Brew - Appealing Power by Valid Appeal) got a nice warm-up. It's Tea Time was having fun out there, kicking up her back legs, etc. Alluring Power set the early pace, fairly comfortable fractions: :24.90, :49.87, 1:13.99. Divine Miss (Distorted Humor - Divine Lady by Kris S.) was chasing, Saint Amore was up close too. She checked after 6 furlongs and wasn't heard from much after that, finishing 7th. Alluring Power continued to lead, but It's Tea Time and Deanaallen'skitten were coming. It's Tea Time took the wide trip. She moved even with Alluring Power, and then pulled away to a nice win. Deanaallen'skitten had to settle for third again. Julien Leparoux probably had to move early with Deanaallen'skitten because of the slow pace. However, this is the second time in a row she's been odds-on and finished third. Watch the Replay.

Mister Marti Gras is Speedy Mon

AEs Southern Legend (Mr. Greeley - Bailonguera (ARG) by Southern Halo) and Spiderman Ridge (Ben's Ridge (GB) - Lady Elagence by Barberstown) were the only scratches. The turf was firm. Stern (Dynaformer - Don't Be Silly by Lord At War (ARG)) was the buzz horse. He was 10-1 on the morning-line, but favored when the betting started. However, Mister Marti Gras (Belong to Me - Miss Marta by Cure the Blues) was favored at post-time. First-timer Cognashene (Dynaformer - Catch the Ring by Seeking the Gold) also took a little early action. Speedy Mon (Afleet Alex - Ringlet by Maria's Mon) was 45-1. Bascom Hall (Mizzen Mast - Victorian Woman by Jeblar) was looking good. Debuter The Tap (Pleasant Tap - Storm's Cooking by Personal Hope) acted up in the post parade. Timely Pursuit (Purge - Tradition of Time by Half Term) looked good on the track. Overall, this was a nice looking bunch. The Tap was a little stubborn at the load. It was a pretty even start, no one seemed to want the early lead. Sunset Rider (More Than Ready - Dark Sapphire (IRE) by Danehill) and Bascom Hall vied early. Sunset Rider began to retreat, but Bascom Hall continued on. They Call Him El (El Corredor - Scintillating Suzi by Tri Jet) and Where U At (Smart Strike - Romy by Slew Machine) put in bids, but they couldn't sustain them. Timely Pursuit and Cognashene were coming, but moving best of all was Mister Marti Gras, who came up the rail to score a convincing win. Speedy Mon was never much involved, finishing 10th (the official chart note was "never dangerous"). Watch the Replay.

Was just wondering if anyone has heard how the Bandini 2 year olds are doing so far in training, still early but was wondering if there has been any news.

I found a works section in Equibase that lists all the official works for the day at each location and there are lots of them. Mostly 3 and ups are working.

However, quite a few 2 year olds worked at Hollywood Park today including a 2 year old Rock Hard Ten and a 2 year old Pollard's Vision.
