Dean's Kitten (colt; Kitten's Joy - Summer Theatre by Ide) came running late in the Palm Beach Stakes, but he couldn't catch Paddy O'Prado (El Prado (IRE) - Fun House by Prized) on the speed-favoring turf course at Gulfstream. Watch the Replay. Read more about the Palm Beach Stakes here.

The Fred "Cappy Capossela Stakes was reduced to a field of 4 with 2 scratches. Castaneda (Yonaguska - Winloc's Gramie by Belong to Me) went to the lead, followed by Strapping Groom (Johannesburg - Something Silver by Silver Deputy), Golden Ghost (Ghostzapper - Mandy's Gold by Gilded Time), and Liston (Storm Cat - Rings a Chime by Metfield). They ran that way the whole way round. Watch the Replay.

Dynazaper (filly; Ghostzapper - Broad Dynamite by Broad Brush) dueled for the early lead in the Herecomesthebride Stakes (gr. III) at Gulfstream, but faltered a bit late, dead-heating for 5th. Profiteroles (filly; Afleet Alex - Rietondale by Dynaformer) steadied early, and faded to 9th (last). Watch the Replay. Read more about the Herecomesthebride Stakes here.

Shrimp Dancer (colt; Kitten's Joy - Formal Dancer by Formal Gold) made a move in the Gotham Stakes (gr. III), and got up to 5th. But, he was no match for winner Awesome Act (Awesome Again - Houdini's Honey by Mr. Prospector). It may be time to return to the turf for Shrimp Dancer. Afleet Again (colt; Afleet Alex - Lucky Again by Wild Again) never really got on track, finishing 10th (last). Watch the Replay. Read more about the Gotham Stakes here.

Cape Cod Carrie Outruns the Lady

The track was fast, and there were no scratches. Promising Vow (Broken Vow - Well At the Top (IRE) by Sadler's Wells) took the early money, but Cape Cod Carrie (Purge - Bet by Go for Gin) was favored at post time. Afleeting Lady (Afleet Alex - Oatsee by Unbridled) was 5-1. Promising Vow had a lot of energy in the paddock, and Bella Jolie (Broken Vow - Jolie Boutique by Northern Jove) was on her toes. Afleeting Lady made a good impression, and she got a nice warm-up once on the track. Bawaara (Quiet American - Innocent Affair (IRE) by Night Shift) went to the early lead, pressed by Freycincette (Johannesburg - Candy Charm by Capote). Afleeting Lady was near the back of a pretty tight pack. Freycincette pulled free from Bawaara, but Cape Cod Carrie was waiting to pounce. Meanwhile, Afleeting Lady was making some progress, moving up to fourth. Cape Cod Carrie went to the lead and prevailed. But, Afleeting Lady put in a good run to take the second spot. This was the second time that Afleeting Lady was defeated by Cape Cod Carrie. At least, she won't have to face her next time. Watch the Replay.

An Authentic Win

Everybody ran and the track was fast. Authentic Ethan (Authenticate - Ethan's Secret by Porto Varas) was favored. Also getting attention at the windows was debuting Big Time Sunshine (Mr. Greeley - Mountain Dawn by Moutain Cat). Entranced (Ghostzapper - Fast and Early by Carson City) was 9-2. Bright Snow (Gulch - Roses In The Snow (IRE) by Be My Guest) caught my eye, it might have been her flashy gray color. First-timer Star Sheba (Elusive Hour - Native Aly by Sir Cat) was acting up in the paddock. Trainer James Jackson took control of her. Entranced had her game face on as she warmed up on the track. She went right to the lead. However, Authentic Ethan soon joined her. Those two soon separated from the rest of the field. Authentic Ethan shook free from Entranced in the stretch, and went on to win by 7. Entranced did hold off the rest of them, finishing second. She will be glad not to face Authentic Ethan next time out, having finished behind her three times now. Watch the Replay.

Jettin on By

There were no scratches. Amazing Saint (Stephen Got Even - Saintly Persuasion by Saint Ballado) was the slight favorite over Jettin Black (Offlee Wild - Jettin Diplomacy by Roman Diplomat). Gatito's Alegria (Kitten's Joy - More Than Sum by More Than Ready) was 6-1, and Afleet Frio (Afleet Alex - Frio Town by Kerosene) went off at 31-1. Gatito's Alegria made a good appearance, as did the favorite. Gatito's Alegria went to the early lead, with Jettin Black pressing. Afleet Frio was sitting around mid-pack. Jettin Black surged to the lead. Gatito's Alegria stayed up there for awhile, but then began to retreat. She ended up 8th. Up front, Amazing Saint put in a run to reduce Jettin Black's lead, but Jettin Black was safely home a winner. Afleet Frio made a middle move, getting up to third, but weakened and finished 6th. Tom Kitten (gelding; Kitten's Joy - Coax Classic by Caveat) looked amazing in the warm-up for his Maiden Claiming race at Aqueduct. He closed some late to finish third. More distance and/or turf would probably help. Watch the Replay.

As predicted, MTO Christmas for Liam (colt; Saint Liam - Gone for Christmas by Gone West) did not drawn into his Maiden Special Weight at Gulfstream, and will have to wait for another day to debut.
