Colonel Potter Rules Afleet Alan

The turf was firm, and only the MTOs and the AEs were scratched. Afleet Alan (Afleet Alex - Madrone by Doneraile Court) was the early favorite, but Ticondero (Cherokee Run - Gal of Mine by Mining) got the nod at post time. First-timer Big Tall Paul (Big Country - Abolinna by King of Kings (IRE)) looked ready. Big longshot Colonel Potter (Full Mandate - Bogus Babe by Unreal Currency) had some spring in his step. Afleet Alan looked good warming up. Tyler's Wildcat (Wild and Wicked - Hi Ho Telly by Temperance Hill) protested at the load. Well Excuuuze Me (Lion Heart - Pardon My Sarong by Souvenir Copy) went for the early lead, with Rama (Quiet American - Ecclesiastes by Saint Ballado) and Yes It's Dan (Yes It's True - I's Right by Deputy Minister) in pursuit. And just behind them was Colonel Potter. Afleet Alan was off slowly, but soon got on track. Colonel Potter took the lead after 6 furlongs, as Well Excuuuze Me began to fade. Afleet Alan, Big Tall Paul, and Ticondero made runs, but there was no catching 50-1 shot Colonel Potter. By the way, for those following on twitter, I apologize for the lack of tweets during this race, twitter went down just as they were going in the gate. Watch the Replay.

The track was fast, and the only scratch was Brocket Man (Yankee Gentleman - Sugars for Nanny by Brocco). Debuter Starr West (Gone West - Starr County by Ogygian) took the early money, but veteran Quiescent Hit (Smart Strike - Traci Girl by Quiet American) was favored at post time. Mochachino (Afleet Alex - Peacock Sally by Marquetry) was 6-1. Starr West made a good impression, and K's Revenge (Lion Heart - Karen S. by Kris S.) was on his toes. Joan's Choice (Alphabet Soup - Roaring Twenties by Dixieland Band) got a strong warm-up. Dance Floor Maniac (Eurosilver - Dance Softly by Tiznow) stood poised on the track. Never Content (Grand Reward - Good Vibes by Unbridled's Song) went to the front, pressed by Quiescent Hit. These two soon separated from the rest. They were going fairly fast early on, :22.54, :45.76. Mochachino was in the back pack. In the stretch, Never Content left Quiescent Hit behind. Starr West and Joan's Choice came late, but Never Content had enough left to hold them off. Mochachino did a little running late, finishing 6th. Watch the Replay.

I've noticed alot of Afleet Alex's kids like to be friendly with the pack but watch out when they get the message these guys are trying to beat them to the wire!
