Remittance Gets Upgraded

The turf was firm. Master Sergeant (Thunder Gulch - Vivid Sunset by Mt. Livermore) was scratched from the main field, allowing AE Aztec Run (Bowman's Band - Experts Only by Power of Mind) to participate. Remittance (Unforgettable Max - Wife's Objection by Slewpy) was favored. Upgrade (Saint Liam - Emily Ring by Fit to Fight) was a respectable 6-1. He looked good in the paddock, as he prepared to make his 2010 debut. Baby Afleet (Afleet Alex - Dancen in the Sun by Regal Classic) was 38-1. It was hard to fault favorite Remittance on looks, but first-timer Runaway Brute (Purge - Runaway Chanel by Runaway Groom) kept catching my eye. Upgrade warmed up nicely, Baby Afleet was looking lively. Remittance, Montana Knight (Seattle Fitz (ARG) - Watch That Girl by Deposit Ticket), and Notoriety (Maria's Mon - Wittenberg by Relaunch) battled for the early lead. Upgrade was just off of these, and Baby Afleet had a nice spot on the rail. Notoriety began to fade up front, but Remittance and Montana Knight kept on. Upgrade made a move and gained on the leaders. At the wire, Remittance surged to a 3/4 length victory. Montana Knight and Upgrade finished together, the photo gave place to Montana Knight. But, it was a nice 2010 debut for Upgrade. Baby Afleet lost ground late to finish 8th. Watch the Replay.
