Liam's Dream (Saint Liam - Danzig's Dreamer by Rubiano) had to check at the start of the Cicada Stakes (gr. III) at Aqueduct, and sat off of the pace. Up front, Southern Truth and Bickersons were dueling. In the stretch, the speed began to fade. Romantic Hideaway was making a move. But, up the rail, Liam's Dream was flying. She pulled away for a nice 1 1/2 length victory. Liam's Dream has now run 4 times, recording 3 wins and 1 third, and earnings of $149,760. Watch the Replay. Read more about the Cicada here.

Best Actor (Rock Hard Ten - Dance for Dixie by Unaccounted For) was in a good spot early in the Florida Derby (gr. I) at Gulfstream, but then faded to last. The winner was Ice Box (Pulpit - Spice Island by Tabasco Cat), who took it in a photo over Pleasant Prince. Ice Box is out of one of my all-time favorites Spice Island. I'd like to think it was my yelling that got him up. Watch the Replay. Read more about the Florida Derby here.

There's a Storm On the Moon

Omar's Tiger (Hold That Tiger - Excelabrate by Gone West) and Valor Da Vida (Value Plus - Trick Question by Confide) were scratched, and the track was fast. First-timer Enclosure (Unbridled's Song - Home Court by Storm Cat) took the early money, but Chasing Ted (Lion Heart - Simply Runaway by Runaway Groom) was favored at post time. Dapper Zapper (Ghostzapper - Checkered Flag by A. P. Indy) was almost 42-1, and Spicer (Ghostzapper - Allspice by Coronado's Quest) was 4-1. Spicer was acting up in the paddock. Chasing Ted made a good impression, although he seemed to get a little agitated as they warmed up. Indy's Promise (A. P. Indy - Hidden Cat by Storm Cat) got a nice warm-up. I thought that the load might be an adventure with 6 first-timers, but it was pretty smooth, although Spicer was still causing a bit of trouble. The break was pretty fair, except for Indy's Promise, who got left and didn't do much after that. Chasing Ted went to the early lead, with Storm On the Moon (Stormy Atlantic - Cajun Moon by Conquistador Cielo) in pursuit. Biloxi (Tiznow - Unclaimed Cat by Storm Cat) made an early move to join those two. They were going swiftly up front, :21.99, :44.57. Chasing Ted began to retreat, but the other two went on. Storm On the Moon pulled away to win by 2, despite drifting in the stretch. Spicer came on a bit late to finish 4th. Dapper Zapper was off slowly, then made up some ground to finish 7th. Watch the Replay.

The Brother Takes It

There were no scratches. Mount Dollberg (Saarland - Almanac by Known Fact) took the early money, but Classic Harmony (Songandaprayer - Haley's Classic by Sky Classic), second last time out, was odd-on at post time. I Am Indy (Saint Liam - Teenage Temper by A. P. Indy) was 10-1. Mount Dollberg looked good on the track. Classic Harmony was late joining the fun, as an equipment change kept him in the paddock. They loaded pretty easily, although Sun Bear (Orientate - Midsummer Sun by Coronado's Quest) needed some persuasion. Classic Harmony went to the lead, but I Am Indy was right with him. They were going pretty slow up there: :25.40, :49.89. Sweet Talkin Fella (Mutakddim - Sweet Emma by Mt. Livermore), Sun Bear, and Mount Dollberg all were closing, and Sweet Talkin Fella took the lead. However, he couldn't hold off first-timer Bk's Other Brother (Cryptoclearance - Ocean Isle by Dynaformer), who came a running and won by a length. I Am Indy weakened to 6th. Watch the Replay.
