News and Notes

I'm happy to relay that Tampa Bay Downs is reporting that all the horses and jockeys involved in the spill Thursday (Jeremy's Kitten's race) are recovering. Daniel Centeno, who was aboard My Power Bullet, is scheduled to return on Wednesday.

Lots of action for Saturday. I may be a little twitter-challenged, especially as it is also Dubai World Cup day.

Theatrical Girl Cools Off the Kitten

The race was taken off of the turf, and run at a mile and 40 yards on the fast main track. Pal's Legacy (Cape Canaveral - Forever Pals by Polish Numbers), Angel's Cove (More Than Ready - Minge Cove by Sandpit (BRZ)), Quiet by Seven (Quiet American - One O Seven by Vice Regent), and Honored View (Honour and Glory - Broad Picture by Broad Brush) were scratched. AE entrant Sin Bin (Toccet - Bridal Glow by Runaway Groom) drew into the race. Theatrical Girl (Wiseman's Ferry - Theatrical Review by Theatrical (IRE)) was favored at less than even money. Hot Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Tabby Cat by Tabasco Cat) was respected at 3-1. She looked good in the paddock. Via Di Roma (Northern Afleet - Winter Runner by Holy Bull) was acting up a bit. Prima Diva (Western Pride - It's Official by Bianconi) seemed a little unsettled on the track. The favorite made a good impression. Pecan Tassie (Johar - Tiz N Image by Cee's Tizzy) went for the early lead, sprinting to a several length advantage. Prima Diva was the nearest pursuer, and after the first quarter, she came forward to pressure Pecan Tassie. Hot Kitten and favorite Theatrical Kitten were both well off of the pace at this point. Hot Kitten began moving up the rail. She was joined by Belle Breeze (Powerscourt (GB) - Le Grand Belle by With Approval). These two challenged the pacesetters as a team. However, Theatrical Girl soon arrived on the scene. Hot Kitten stuck with her for awhile, but gradually Theatrical Girl pulled away for the win. Watch the Replay.
