Dean's Kitten (colt; Kitten's Joy - Summer Theatre by Ide) tracked the early leaders, put away pacesetter Ranger Heartley and held off the closers, to win the Lane's End Stakes (gr. II) by 2.5 lengths. Next stop Louisville! We can say that we knew him back at the beginning.

Doubles Partner (colt; Rock Hard Ten - Serena's Sister by Rahy) was in a good position in the Lane's End, but weakened and finished 8th. Watch the Replay. Read more about the Lane's End here.

Kera's Kitten (colt; Kitten's Joy - Mrs. K. by Dixieland Band) dueled with Cool Bullet (Red Bullet - Lizzy Cool by Saint Ballado) early, but tired to finish 5th in the Hansel Stakes at Turfway Park. Cool Bullet went on to win the race by an impressive 4.5 lengths. Watch the Replay.

Lisa's Kitten (filly; Kitten's Joy - Chianti Red by Woodman) bumped into an opponent at the start, and was never really involved in the Bourbonette Oaks (gr. III) at Turfway, finishing 8th. The winner was Orchestrator (Bernstein - Lucky Socks by Temperance Hill). Watch the Replay. Read more about the Bourbonette here.

Daddy Forty Nine (gelding; Ghostzapper - Tuff Chick by Wild Again) was in a good position early in the Grindstone Stakes, but faltered and finished 6th (last). The winner was the impressive favorite Workin for Hops (City Zip - Citi Pearl by Citidancer). Watch the Replay.

Where Is St Liams Halo

The turf was firm. Stakes-placed Saluting Stormye (Roman Ruler - Stormy Kitty by Stormy Atlantic) was favored. St Liams Halo (Saint Liam - Foolishly by Broad Brush) was 5-1. He warmed up nicely. The favorite looked good as he entered the gate. Flee the Posse (Posse - Flee the Scene by Criminal Type) took the early lead. In the Ocean (Indian Ocean - Skip's Stiletto by Skip Trial) and Leading Candidate (Smarty Jones - Clarins by Storm Cat) were chasing. St Liams was in a decent spot, while Toreto (Indian Ocean - Jolie's Lillian by Jolie's Halo) was left at the break. In the Ocean took the lead on the turn, but St Liams Halo and Where Is'em (King Cugat - Watch Rachel by Inciderator) were coming. They hit the line together. It took a photo to separate the two. Where Is'em was the winner by a nose. Regardless, it was nice turf debut for St Liams Halo. Watch the Replay.

Six Clicks Away from Brother and Christmas

Royal Straight (Smarty Jones - Cozzena by Cozzene) was favored. Christmas for Liam (Saint Liam - Gone for Christmas by Gone West) was 9-1, and Brother Bird (Yonaguska - Mining My Own by Smart Strike), the half brother to Mine That Bird, was 5-1. Six Clicks (Offlee Wild - Desert Radiance by Desert Wine) had some pep in the post parade. Christmas for Liam was sans pony. Royal Straight looked good on the track. The big field loaded pretty smoothly. Five Fifty Five (Loup Solitaire - Lacewings by Forty Niner) outbroke the field, but Walt's Whiz (Sky Mesa - Fourth Daughter by Smoke Glacken) took the early lead from his inside post. Royal Straight and Six Clicks were just off of these. Christmas for Liam was squeezed at the start, but soon got in gear, moving on the outside. Royal Straight took the lead in the stretch, but Six Clicks was coming. He took command and pulled away. Brother Bird closed into second, but could gain no more. Christmas for Liam grabbed the show spot. A nice race for Six Clicks, but also good runs for debuting Christmas for Liam and Brother Bird, back after a long layoff. Watch the Replay.

Tight Jeans Splashes Down Gatito's Alegria

Grannys Green Eyes (Pollard's Vision - Call Me Granny by Slew City Slew) was favored at 2-1. Tight Jeans (Meadow Monster - Carr Dot Com by Compliance) was also getting played at 3-1. Gatito's Alegria (Kitten's Joy - More Than Sum by More Than Ready) was 27-1. I liked the look of first-timer Grace's Miracle (Birdstone - Go Grace Go by Sefapiano). Phantom Star (Grand Reward - Double Link by Private Thoughts) made a favorable impression on the track, as did debuter Betrothal (Explicit - Wedding by French Deputy). Gatito's Alegria looked ready. Tight Jeans acted up a bit at the load. But, she came out of the gate quickly. Cixi (Taste of Paradise - Xena War Princess by Deposit Ticket) pressed her for a time. Splashdown (Johar - Esher by King of Kings (IRE)) and Grannys Green Eyes weren't far off. Gatito's Alegria was near the back, but they were going fast up front. Betrothal was off slowly. Tight Jeans continued to lead. Splashdown took a run at her, but had to settle for second. On the scene late was Gatito's Alegria, who picked up third. Betrothal also recovered from her slow start to finish fourth. She might be one to keep an eye on. Watch the Replay.

Victory for Victoria Lynn

The track was fast and there were no scratches. Victoria Lynn (Grand Slam - Pout by Deputy Minister) was favored at near even money. Saint Amore (Saint Liam - Amaretta by Woodman) was 8-1. Remark (Distorted Humor - Krisada by Kris S.) looked good in the paddock. Saint Amore made a favorable impression, as she strolled by. Lovely Lina (Carry My Colors - Grand Purpose by Jeblar) was bucking in the post parade. Favorite Victoria Lynn looked ready. Splitting Heirs (Wildcat Heir - One to Five by Naevus) took the early lead, with Remark and Oeuf a La Neige (Snow Ridge - Lady Crystal by Sky Classic) the early chasers. Saint Amore was in 6th. Splitting Heirs continued to lead, but Victoria Lynn was coming. She took command in the stretch, and pulled away by more than 3 lengths. Splitting Heirs held second and Remark was around for third. Master Chef Masters Premier Cru

There were no scratches in this compact field. Wayman (Songandaprayer - Letithappencaptain by Captain Bodgit), who was making his first start since being gelded, was favored. But, Premier Cru (Afleet Alex - Restored Hope by He's Bad) was also getting plenty of play. Actually, all five entrants were receiving some attention, as the longest shot on the board was 7-1. Wayman looked good in the paddock, but so did Premier Cru. First-timer Bradium (Forestry - Spontaneous by Rahy) was a little reluctant to load. Premier Cru, like many Afleet Alexes, was off slowly, spotting the rest of the field 10 lengths. At the front was Wayman. Bradium and Master Chef (Vronsky - Grilltoperfection by Perfect Mandate) were the closest pursuers. Wayman seemed home free, but Master Chef came on to make it interesting. And then, he went on by for the win. Premier Cru caught one to finish 5th. Watch the Replay.

Broken Tango has a Vision

Everybody ran. Alex's Vision (Afleet Alex - Urban Dancer by Citidancer) was favored. I was hopeful, but a little skeptical with the tendency of Afleet Alexes to break slowly first time out. Broken Tango (Broken Vow - Tango Passion by Tabasco Cat) looked good on the track, and Hundred Adams (Macho Uno - Pearlwood by Touch Gold) caught my eye. Alex's Vision was off ok, but not great. Broken Tango went directly to the lead, with Crown of Glory (Speightstown - Berga by Jade Hunter) and Dirty Cerday (Strong Hope - Cozzena Cozzena by Cozzene) chasing. Crown of Glory tried to gain on Broken Tango, but he was rebuffed. Bold Victory (Vindication - Apelia by Cool Victor) made a move to get into second, but he couldn't catch Broken Tango. Alex's Vision made up some ground to finish 5th, but didn't challenge for a placing. Watch the Replay.

Other March 27 Results

King Rock (colt; Rock Hard Ten - Queen Mindy by King of Kings (IRE)) was even money in his Allowance race at Philadelphia Park, and he came up the rail to get the win. King Rock has now run 7 times, with 2 wins, 2 seconds, 2 thirds, and earnings of $77,050. Watch the Replay.

A Student (colt; Afleet Alex - La Sorbonne (ARG) by Southern Halo) came from off the pace and stormed home to get his second victory in race 7 at Oaklawn Park, a mile and a sixteenth Allowance/Optional Claiming race. Watch the Replay.

Native Kitten (filly; Kitten's Joy - Native Belle by Forestry) surged late to break her maiden in race 8 at Mountaineer, a 6 furlong Maiden Special Weight. Check out the inspired run by Basketwoman, who lost her rider at the start. Yes, she had less weight than the others, but I like to see a riderless horse make a professional run. However, I'm sure the rider on the pacesetter did not enjoy it. Watch the Replay.

Out of Print (colt; Kitten's Joy - Lettertotheeditor by Editor's Note) finished a good third in his Maiden Special Weight for Pennsylvania-breds at Penn National. Watch the Replay.

Rock America (colt; Rock Hard Ten - Girl Scout by Meadowlake) did not draw in off of the AE list in race 8 at Gulfstream Park, a Maiden Special Weight on the turf.
