Nina Fever Burns for Borrego

There were no scratches. Goodeveningofficer (Officer - Alligator Allie by Gone West), the filly scheduled to sell at the Keeneland’s April sale of 2-year-olds in training on Monday, took the early money. But, Nina Fever (Borrego - Impact Now by Major Impact), the first runner for freshman sire Borrego, was favored at post time. Harlan's Ruby (Harlan's Holiday - Smiling Eyes by Saint Ballado) looked good in the paddock and on the track. Nina Fever, debuting in blinkers, looked ready. Goodeveningofficer was pumped. There was a scramble for the early lead, with Nina Fever, Tristanme (Bwana Charlie - Forever Full by Full Out), Goodeveningofficer, and K C Lee (Lee's Badger - K. C. Classic by Sky Classic) all going for it. Emerging from this crowd was Nina Fever. She took the lead, and then kept moving farther and farther in front. The final margin was 8 lengths. Thus, Nina Fever wins her debut and gets Borrego's stallion career off to a running start. Watch the Replay. Read more about Nina Fever here.
