Kentucky Derby hopeful Dean's Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Summer Theatre by Ide) worked 5 furlongs in :59.80 at the Churchill Training Center. It was the fastest of 10 works at the distance. Read more about his work here.

Exhi Overpowers Krypton

Connemara (Giant's Causeway - Satin Sunrise by Mr. Leader) was favored in the Coolmore Lexington Stakes (gr. II), but it was only tepid approval at 4-1. Krypton (colt; Rock Hard Ten - Freedom Reigns by Unbridled's Song) was close to 6-1. Bushwacked (Posse - Run In by Dynaformer) looked good, as did Kettle River (Congaree - La Grande Mamma by Compadre). Krypton warmed up strong. He was involved early from his rail spot, but he let Exhi (Maria's Mon - Soldera by Polish Numbers) have the early lead. That would prove to be a mistake. Krypton chased Exhi for 6 furlongs, but couldn't advance. He tired and finished 9th. Bushwacked and Uptowncharlybrown (Limehouse - La Iluminada by Langfuhr) made runs in the stretch, but they couldn't catch Exhi, who took the Coolmore Lexington at more than 19-1. Watch the Replay. Cat Ruler (colt; Kitten's Joy - Grindstone Lassie by Grindstone) finished 7th in the Baxter Stakes at Fonner Park.
