Phenomenal

There were no scratches. Bluegrass Phenom (Bluegrass Cat - Reboot by Rubiano) took the early money, but Speed Has Value (Value Plue - Lantana by Copelan), one of two trained by Wesley Ward, was favored at post time. Tiz My Time (Sharp Humor - Tiz the Hour by Tiznow), the first runner for Sharp Humor, made a favorable impression in the paddock. Bluegrass Phenom looked ready to go. Gave Away Power (One More Power - Thirty Eight Jeans by Thirty Eight Paces) acted up a bit in the paddock, and once on the track won the "most likely to dump her rider before the start" award. However, Kent Desormeaux took her away from the pony and the other horses, and she settled down. Proud Dame (Proud Accolade - Galadriel by Ascot Knight) was one for chrome lovers, a big blaze and four stockings. Bluegrass Phenom loaded like a pro. The start was pretty even, apart from Tupelo Honey (Senor Amigo - One Sweet World by Williamstown), who broke slowly. Bluegrass Phenom went right to the front. Tiz My Time was chasing. Bluegrass Phenom continued on top. Tribal Strike joined in on the chase in third, but Bluegrass Phenom held them all off. She won by a length and a half, becoming the first winner for Bluegrass Cat. Bluegrass Phenom is owned by Bill Hayes, and trained by Tom Amoss. James Graham rode the winner, who was bred in Kentucky by Woodford Thoroughbreds, LLC. Her birthday is January 19. Watch the Replay.
