Code Dances by Tommie

I missed the prelmins on this race, too consumed with Preakness duties. Goodtimehadbyall (Quiet American - Miss Brickyard by A. P. Indy), entrymate to Champagne Tommie (Henny Hughes - Champagne Sunset by Gulch), was scratched, as well as Closing Bid (Closing Argument - Crissy's Comet by Clever Trick). Champagne Tommie was favored, and fellow filly Ruth and Neva (Cherokee Run - Tap for Gold by Pleasant Tap) got some play as well. Champagne Tommie went to the lead, but she couldn't hold it, as Code Dancer (Omega Code - Jocey's Dance by Seattle Dancer) zoomed by. Champagne Tommie continued to chase Code Dancer, but weakened late and finished fourth. Double Jigger (Hennessy - Successfully by Affirmed) and Ruth and Neva gained some late, but Code Dancer won by a comfortable 4 lengths. Watch the Replay.

Stakes Results

Dublin (colt; Afleet Alex - Classy Mirage by Storm Bird) came out of the gate in the Preakness Stakes (gr. I) and tried to head for the gap, basically making a right turn. The race was pretty much over for him after that. However, he did pick up 7 places in the stretch, to finish a respectable 5th. If not for his shenanigans at the beginning, he easily could have hit the board. The winner was Lookin For Lucky, who found a good trip for a change. Watch the Replay. Read more about the Preakness here.

Kera's Kitten (colt; Kitten's Joy - Mrs. K. by Dixieland Band) dueled early in the James W. Murphy Stakes at a mile on the turf at Pimlico, but tired and finished 7th. Watch the Replay.
