Weekend Wildcat Blue Right By

River City Gem (Perfect Soul (IRE) - Dancing Marrea by Lord At War (ARG)), Witty Kitty (Tactical Cat - Humorus Distortion by Distorted Humor), and Philippe (Mineshaft - Freedom of Speech by Danzig) were scratched. Fairview Heights (Distorted Humor - Platinum Heights by Storm Cat) took all the early money, but Weekend Wildcat (Lion Heart - Blushing Double by Candy Stripes) was the slight favorite at post time. Blue Right By (Bluegrass Cat - Shades of Grace by Seeking the Gold) was 11-1. Fairview Heights looked good in the paddock, but Blue Right By did not make a bad appearance. Razmataz (Forest Wildcat - Miss Cheektowaga by Crafty Friend) bucked as Jamie Theriot tried to mount, and was a bit unsettled on the track. Weekend Wildcat looked good warming up. There was reluctance all around at the load. Goodtimehadbyall (Quiet American - Miss Brickyard by A. P. Indy) caused a bit of a delay, and Weekend Wildcat reared out of the hand of the assistant starter. Victor Lebron, however, stayed on. Razmataz went to the early lead, but Weekend Wildcat was not far off. Blue Right By was off a little slowly. Razmataz and Weekend Wildcat stayed together until the stretch, when Weekend Wildcat pulled away. Picking up second late was Chipshot (Peace Rules - Chispiski by Appealing Skier). Blue Right By was never really involved, finishing 6th (last). Fairview Heights, the first-timer who took the early money, tired and finished 5th. Watch the Replay.

Wild Saint (colt; Saint Liam - Wild Snitch by Forest Wildcat) stalked the pacesetter and then took over to break his maiden in race 3 at Charles Town, a 4.5 furlong Maiden Special Weight. Watch the Replay

Jeff's Kitten (colt; Kitten's Joy - Sweet Baby Jane by Kingmambo) is now a perfect 2 for 2 with a victory in race 6 at Churchill Downs, a 1 1/16 mile Claiming race. This was kind of a strange race. He was far back early, as the first three runners left the field behind, he then made a big move wide on the turn and got to the front. However, he seemed to falter a bit after getting to the front, but rerallied to win by 3.5 lengths. Watch the Replay.

Kratisto (colt; Afleet Alex - Torch by Risen Star) finished 3rd in race 8 at Pimlico, a 1 1/16 mile Allowance race. Dontsellmetofelons, the half brother to I Want Revenge, was second. The winner was 4-year-old Winged HeroWatch the Replay.

New Madrid (colt; Rock Hard Ten - Back to Earth by Theatrical (IRE)) went to the lead in his Allowance race on the turf at Belmont, sporting new blinkers. Syo Defenceman (colt; Afleet Alex - Southern Sandra by Dixie Brass) was right with him. They stayed that way for 6 furlongs, setting slow fractions, but both faded. New Madrid finished 5th and Syo Defenceman was 7th. The winner was Kindergarten Kid. HRTV reported that New Madrid will not run in the Belmont Stakes after today's turf performance. I was more puzzled by Syo Defenceman's performance than New Madrid's. After all, New Madrid was trying two new things: blinkers and turf.  Watch the Replay.

My Alexis (filly; Afleet Alex - Saint's Play by Saint Ballado) was scratched from race 4 at Pimlico, a 1 1/16 mile Claiming race.

Slew

My poor beleaguered New Madrid.  I watched that race.  To his credit, he finally ran in a straight line, but lost his speed and endurance.  Did not see him going to Belmont after that performance.  He might mature at a later time like daddy.

Looking forward to watching Explosive Elle run later today at LAD, this filly has really been training well and should be a much needed runner for his sire that really needs one to come running.
