The Man Uptown Delivers at the Downs

Perregaux (Distorted Humor - Sweet Talker by Stormin Fever) and Witty Kitty (Tactical Cat - Humorus Distortion by Distorted Humor) were scratched. Putitonwaynestab (Leestown - Leasears by Lear Fan), entrymate to Witty Kitty, did run. First-timer The Man Uptown (Yonaguska - Hail the Flag by Devil's Bag) was favored, but Voyles (Officer - Yes It's Gold by Yes It's True), who was 2nd in his last start, took plenty of action as well. The Man Uptown made a good appearance in the paddock, he is quite a handsome fellow. Putitonwaynestab, who was late to the party, acted up a little as the saddle was put on. There was lots of tail swishing in the post parade. Singingmyhymnsong (Songandaprayer - Start the Thunder by Thunder Gulch) won the "most likely to dump his jockey" award. Mr Tribute (El Corredor - Amandas Bandit by Royal Academy) was off slowly at the break. Voyles took to the front. He was pursued briefly by Putitonwaynestab, and more earnestly by Singingmyhymnsong. Sitting off of these was The Man Uptown. He was moved outside for the serious running, and overtook the pacesetters for a nifty 3/4 length win. Voyles was a clear second over Singingmyhymnsong, who was better than 3 in front of Putitonywaynestab. Slow starting Mr Tribute never got involved. Watch the Replay.

Best Actor (colt; Rock Hard Ten - Dance for Dixie by Unaccounted For) was mid-pack early on in his Allowance/Optional Claiming race at Arlington Park, but began to move up almost immediately. Beyondallboundarys (filly; Saint Liam - In Secure by A. P. Indy) was off a beat slow in her Allowance race at Churchill Downs, but eager to get involved. She made a move between horses and hit the front, but couldn't hold off favorite Spun Silver, finishing second. Watch the Replay.

Trinity Run (colt; Ghostzapper - Lake Windermere by Fit to Fight) was scratched from race 2 at Churchill Downs, a 7 furlong Starter Allowance. Trinity Run has had a hard time getting into a race recently. He finished 2nd on April 29, and attempted to run on May 21 in a Maiden Special Weight. He was scratched from that race, because he was officially a winner. This happened because the winner of the April 29 race was disqualified for a drug positive. However, Trinity Run was scratched today, because that disqualification has now been overturned. Trinity Run is now no longer a winner, and therefore not eligible for a race for horses that broke their maidens for a claiming price of $40,000 or less. Read more about this situation here.

Gatito's Alegria (filly; Kitten's Joy - More Than Sum by More Than Ready) was scratched from race 9 at Churchill Downs, a 6 furlong Maiden Claiming race.
