Work That Horse

News and Notes

Now that the Belmont Stakes has come and gone, I have decided that it's time to let go of our 2007 crop. I will update the results from the last three days, but I will no longer be posting entries and results for three-year-olds. It's time to concentrate fully on the 2008 crop. I will still tweet wins for the 3-year-olds, and will comment on stakes entries and results. And, please continue to comment on these horses as much as you want.

Both of our 2-year-old runners were scratched on June 6: Champagne Tommie (Henny Hughes - Champagne Sunset by Gulch) at Churchill Downs and Let's Get Rockin (Rockport Harbor - Impolite by Two Punch) at Woodbine. The Churchill Downs race was won by Ellusive Wildcat (Forest Wildcat - Elusive Air by Elusive Quality), by 4 lengths. I liked the performance of Dreamin Big (Pure Prize - Hush U Dreamer by Roar) in that one, as she closed well to pick up second. Watch the Replay. Hank's Hill (French Envoy - Ticklin' Toni by Smile) won the race at Woodbine, also by 4 lengths. He was aided when several broke badly, but it was still a nice win. Watch the Replay.

Mercedes - I don't know the exact date of the first 2yo race this year, but it was either late March or early April. As an example, the blog's first 2yo of 2010 to run was Speed Demon. His first race was April 2 at Keeneland, where he finished 3rd. Since then, he won a race on April 28 at Churchill, and finished 2nd in the Par Four Stakes at Delaware on May 22.
