A Passion for Winning

There were no scratches, and the track was sloppy (sealed). Joann's Success (Successful Appeal - Sweeter (BRZ) by Clackson (BRZ)) was favored, but Passionate Cat (Bluegrass Cat - Love At Noon by Afternoon Deelites), who took a lot of late money, was just a tick higher on the tote board. He looked nice in the paddock, and had bandages color-coordinated with his saddlecloth. Interestingly, he was wearing front bandages, but was not using lasix or bute. Filly Sultry Gibson (Gibson County - Sultry Peg Cee by Sultry Song) displayed some long legs, she looked ready. Passionate Cat started to get a tad agitated on the track. Hungry Wildcat (Margie's Wildcat - Lakefield Miss by Ordway) balked at the load. Passionate Cat went in like a pro. The start was fairly even. Genuine Sole (Gibson County - Sanibel Sole by Miswaki) went to the lead, but Passionate Cat was not far behind. Also involved early was Sultry Gibson. Passionate Cat pulled even with Genuine Sole, as those two separated from the rest. Passionate Cat then shook free for the win, although he did have to survive a scare from Ithinkicaninoican (Deputy Wild Cat - Lightning Gal by Carson City), who was flying at the finish. Passionate Cat is winner number three for Bluegrass Cat, and his second debut winner. Watch the Replay.
