Another Silver Oak: Another Bluegrass Cat Winner

There were no scratches. Peb Hughes (Henny Hughes - Race Artist by Mr. Prospector) was the early favorite, but veteran Dylan the Deputy (Deputy Storm - Spirited Market by Marquetry), who was making his 4th start, took the late money. Another Silver Oak (Bluegrass Cat - Off the Richter by Richter Scale) was 7-1. He looked good in the paddock. I kind of liked the look of Double Black (Medaglia d'Oro - Border Bound by Boundary). Dylan the Deputy looked ready as well. Another Silver Oak acted up at load time. He was definitely not a happy camper. The jockey hopped off and they opened the front of the gate, but it still took some persuading to get him in. Even after getting loaded, he still didn't look settled. Argentine Talisman (Dehere - Tifonica (ARG) by Equalize) decided to act up too, and Peb Hughes also needed a shove to get into the gate. The break was pretty even. Another Silver Oak went for the lead, along with Dylan the Deputy. Peb Hughes was chasing these in third. Another Silver Oak and Dylan the Deputy continued to duel into the stretch. Peb Hughes seemed poised to go by both of them. Another Silver Oak pulled away from Dylan the Deputy late, and took the race by 2 3/4 lengths. Peb Hughes overtook Dylan the Deputy to take second. The Maiden Watch exacta paid $63.60. Another Silver Oak is the fifth winner for Bluegrass Cat, and his third debut winner. It was also a promising first outing for Peb Hughes, who should improve next time. Watch the Replay.

Not sure if my first note went thru, but I loved and hoped for Peb Hughes to win...he looked good, didn't get my win or double, but got exacta with Pletcher entry.  I hope this sire will do well...maybe next time.

Don from Delaware - I know what you mean about Peb Hughes. It certainly looked like he would overtake those front runners. Experience will help.
