Secret Ride Blue 'Em Away

Ellenberger Park (Tenpins - Perth Lassie by On Target) was scratched, but his entrymate Prize N Shine (Pure Prize - Bright and Shiny by El Prado (IRE)) ran. Witty Kitty (Tactical Cat - Humorus Distortion by Distorted Humor) took the early money, but first-timer Secret Ride (Silver Train - Best in the West by Gone West) was favored at post time. Blue 'Em Away (Bluegrass Cat - Alcina by Kingmambo) was 9-2. Prize N Shine didn't look particularly happy to be getting a rider. Sooner Shaker (Two Punch - Sconneltown Road by Ack Ack) had some energy, and Secret Ride was looking good as they went to the track. The load was a bit of an adventure. Blue 'Em Away acted up, River City Gem (Perfect Soul (IRE) - Dancing Marrea by Lord At War (ARG)) reared, and Witty Kitty was restless, before and after the load. He broke ok, but drifted outward. Sooner Shaker was on top early, pressed by Secret Ride. Blue 'Em Away settled off the pace. He made a big move on the turn, and hit the lead, but he couldn't sustain it. Instead, Secret Ride spurted away to win by 7 3/4 lengths. River City Gem moved into second, and Prize N Shine took third from a tiring Blue 'Em Away, who finished fourth. Secret Ride is the third winner for freshman sire Silver Train. Watch the Replay.

Let's Get Fiscal Too Much for Sky Hosoya

I didn't see much of the preliminaries for this one, as I was watching Gavilan at Arlington Park. The only scratch was Networking (Officer - Zealous Connection by Unreal Zeal), her entrymate, Believe in A. P. (A. P. Indy - I Believe in You by Pleasant Tap), stayed in. First-timer Let's Get Fiscal (Bandini - Bouvet by Touch Gold) was favored. Sky Hosoya (Bluegrass Cat - T. K. O. Lady by Two Punch) went off at 2-1. Miss Dixie Halo (Dixieland Band - Miss City Halo by Carson City) acted up at the load. Evangelical (Speightstown - Evangelizer by Saint Ballado) outbroke the field, but Let's Get Fiscal and Sky Hosoya soon got involved. Let's Get Fiscal moved even with Evangelical, and then moved on by, pulling away to a 5 1/2 length victory. Evangelical held second over Avanta (Dixie Union - Burnished Miss by Wild Again), who was making up ground late. Sky Hosoya tired to 5th. Let's Get Fiscal is winner number one for Bandini. Gaby's Guy Says Goodbye to Gavilan

Tank's Letter (Menhal - Chain Letter by Tank's Number) was scratched. Favoritism bounced around a bit, and finally settled on Gavilan (Rockport Harbor - Christmas Party by Wild Again). Second-choice went to the only filly in the race, Jill (Yonaguska - Gods Ear by Unusual Heat). I kind of liked the look at Tigers Last (Explicit - Tigers Wish by Tiger Ridge), and Gaby's Guy (Forest Grove - Lady Caveat by Caveat) caught my eye as well. Gavilan looked ready in the post parade. Lots of action at the load. Tigers Last dumped his rider and ran off. He was caught after running a couple of furlongs. Then, Jill got loose. She didn't so much as run away, as prance away, and was quickly knabbed. Gavilan seemed calm and collected amid the chaos. Jill continue to act up as she was loaded. Tigers Last and Gaby's Guy battled for command early. Gibby's Tornado (Bright Launch - Crafty Ana by Crafty Friend) and Jill were chasing. Gaby's Guy pulled away in the stretch, building up a 5 length lead. Longshot Mentiroso (Halo's Image - Va Va Voom by Dixieland Band) put a little dent in the margin late, but Gaby's Guy was home free. Fire Road (Devil His Due - Femmette by His Majesty) did some running late to pick up third. Gavilan broke slowly and was never really involved, finishing seventh. Gaby's Guy is the second winner for Forest Grove from 4 starters. Watch the Replay.
