Three-Year-Old Stakes Result

Harissa (filly; Afleet Alex - Dynasty by Time for a Change) made a nice move to take the lead in the Iowa Oaks (gr. III), but she couldn't hold off Seeking the Title, and finished second. Watch the Replay. Read more about the Iowa Oaks here.

Two-Year-Old Results

Boogeying to the Winner's Circle

There were no scratches. For the Rest of Us (Matty G - Our Mt. of Love by Mt. Livermore) was favored, Boogie to Seattle (Bluegrass Cat - Exogenetic by Unbridled's Song) was 3-1. Flight of a Dream (Silver Train - Gouge by Repriced) looked good on the track. Bell Adieu (Tribunal - Campanita by Son of Briartic) warmed up nicely. Boogie to Seattle looked ready, and she got a little push into the gate. It was a pretty fair start for all, except favorite For the Rest of Us who was off slowly. Boogie to Seattle went to the front, along with Ms Golden Gardens (Stolen Gold - Matzo Ball by Stravinsky). Those two dueled for the first several furlongs, and then Boogie to Seattle pulled free. She continued to increase her lead, winning by 6 lengths. She is winner number 7 for Bluegrass Cat, who has now gone over the $200,000 mark in progeny earnings. Bell Adieu and Flight of a Dream both ran on for second and third. Ms Golden Gardens weakened to fifth. Watch the Replay.

Beatnik Sweeps by the Cat

The unraced horses, Beatnik (Kitten's Joy - Silla by Gone West) and Y Not Tony (Tomorrows Cat - Unknown Fact by Known Fact), received most of the bettors' attention. Cat Sweep (Bluegrass Cat - Nany's Sweep by End Sweep) was 5-1. I kind of liked the look of Hurricane Denton (War Front - Summer Exhibition by Royal Academy). Zulu Prince (Cetewayo - Princess Letitia by Dynaformer) got a shove in the gate. Lots of trouble at the start, as Cat Sweep was forced into the gap when the runners left the shoot. Y Not Tony took the early lead, with Hurricane Denton pressing. Cat Sweep recovered from his adventurous start, and began to get involved. Hurricane Denton and Cat Sweep battled in the stretch, but Beatnik came along and went by the both of them. Cat Sweep outfinished Hurricane Denton for the second spot. A nice win by Beatnik, but it was hard not to be impressed with Cat Sweep. Despite all his trouble, he kept coming and coming. There was a stewards inquiry into the activity at the start, but no change was made. Either they couldn't tell who the instigator was, or it was someone other than Beatnik. Since Cat Sweep took the bulk of the trouble, a change probably would have only been made if Beatnik caused the trouble, since Cat Sweep finished in front of the others. Watch the Replay.

Tiz Blushing by Bluegrass Chatter

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. Alpine Z (Swiss Yodeler - Queenie Z by Nostalgia's Star) was favored, while Bluegrass Chatter (Bluegrass Cat - Chatter Chatter by Lost Soldier) was a respectable 8-2. Tiz Blushing (Tizbud - Winning Blush by Iron Cat) caught my eye in the paddock, and Bluegrass Chatter looked good. Bluegrass Chatter was squeezed at the start, and rank early. Goddess Isis (Suances (GB) - Geri's Princess by Siyah Kalem) set the pace, with Alpine Z chasing. Bluegrass Chatter began to make up a little ground. Alpine Z took the lead in the stretch. Bluegrass Chatter was coming, but closing faster was Tiz Blushing. She came up the rail for a nice victory. Bluegrass Chatter outfought Alpine Z to take second.

A Quiet Assault on Actual Size

There were no scratches in this 6 horse field. Devour (Lion Heart - Chosen Ticket by Deposit Ticket) was favored at even money. He looked good in the paddock, but was using up some energy. Actual Size (Bluegrass Cat - Lady Melesi by Colonial Affair), who is a flashy chestnut, was 6-1. Baby Tate (Orientate - Book Babe by Alydeed) was acting up a bit in the post parade. Soon after the break, Actual Size clipped heels with Lucky Sis (Cayoke (FR) - Biker's Sis by High Brite), who came out. Actual Size went to his nose, and almost went down. The race was pretty much over for him at that point. On the other hand, Lucky Sis set the pace. Quiet Assault (Quiet American - Quality Gift (GB) by Last Tycoon (IRE)) joined Lucky Sis at the front, pressing her early. In the stretch, Quiet Assault moved ahead. Clubhouse Ride (Candy Ride (ARG) - Seeking Results by Seeking the Gold) chased him home, but had to settle for second. Devour was along late for third. Actual Size finished last, but was placed 5th, when Lucky Sis was disqualified on account of her behavior at the start and placed last. Watch the Replay.

The Winning Connection

The track was fast, and the only scratches were the AEs. Well Connected (Dynaformer - Indy Groove by A.P. Indy) took the early money, but Werkman (Silver Deputy - Talega by Devil's Bag) was favored at post time. Lord Hennyson (Henny Hughes - Ran for the Dough by Bertrando) was 13-1. Most of the horses were kept in their stalls in the paddock. However, Grigio (Stormy Atlantic - Underworld by Unbridled's Song) looked good strolling around. But, he was a tad rambunctious when the rider got aboard. Werkman and Lord Hennyson both looked good in the post parade, as did Well Connected. The load was pretty deliberate, with a big field and so many first-timers. Ready to Taunt (More Than Ready - Taunt by Deputy Minister) balked a bit at the gate. Lord Hennyson and Singingmyhymnsong (Songandaprayer - Start the Thunder by Thunder Gulch) went for the early lead. There was traffic trouble for several, Sol Caribe (Senor Amigo - Spirits Girl by Muhtafal) and Grigio took the worst of it. Lord Hennyson and Singingmyhymnsong continued to duel as they approached the stretch, but Well Connected was looming in third. He flew by them, and pulled away for a nice 1 3/4 length victory. There was a cluster battling for the minor awards. Werkman was a head in front of the deadheat pair of Simmstown (Limehouse - Ruler's Charm by Cape Town) and Why Pretend (Whywhywhy - Pretend by Gulch). Lord Hennyson weakened to 7th, but he should be stronger next time out. Watch the Replay.

Snow Survives a Trial

Princabella (Exchange Rate - Remora by Tactical Advantage), part of an entry with Ayoumilove (Gibson County - Charms Way by Salt Lake), was scratched, as well as Rock'in the Halls (Graeme Hall - Gin Rummy by Slew Gin Fizz). The track was fast. Truly Classy (Silver Train - Interruption by Conquistador Cielo) took all the early money, opening up at 3-5. However, when they went in the gate, Luna Grande (Mass Media - Dream Lady Dream by Fortunate Prospect) was favored. Sacred Class (Rockport Harbor - Queen Evelyn by Hennessy) was almost 5-1, and Joyous Music (Bellamy Road - Pyrite Queen by Wavering Monarch) was 22-1. Truly Classy was bouncing in the paddock. Joyous Music and Sacred Class both made favorable impressions in the post parade, but I thought Sacred Class might need more distance. Snow Trial (Trippi - Pretty Springs by Wekiva Springs), a striking gray, was looking good. The Maiden Watch fillies were bookends at the start; Joyous Music broke running and went for the lead, Sacred Class hopped at the start and trailed. Ayoumilove took after Joyous Music, and those two ran 1-2 for a time. Watching this action was Snow Trial, who took over in the stretch. She had no time to relax, however, as Delightful Dawn (Act of Duty - Dakota Light by Colony Light) was flying up the rail. Snow Trial held on for the victory. Truly Classy gained a little late for third. Joyous Music weakened to 7th, and Sacred Class passed a couple to finish 8th. Watch the Replay.

Do you have any info on Afleet Alex's fillie Avatar Day that raced in Italy.  Did she win her first race before trying the

Manuel Rodriguez - I only see one star for Avatar Day, who is a 2yo colt by Afleet Alex, he finished second in the Premio Primi Passi on June 20. It is possible that the Italian statistics are incomplete.
