Zanazzi Can't Stop Destiny

The ground was good to firm, Oneiric (GB) (Act One (GB) - Ecstasy (GB) by Pursuit of Love (GB)) was the only scratch. Zanazzi (Bernardini - Silken Cat by Storm Cat) broke well and headed for the rail. Date With Destiny (IRE) (George Washington (IRE) - Flawlessly (FR) by Rainbow Quest) was off a little slowly, and Rosa Midnight (Lemon Drop Kid - Christmas Player by Theatrical (IRE)) missed the break. Zanazzi led the fillies as they advanced. Mortitia (GB) (Dansili (GB) - Simianna (GB) by Bluegrass Prince (IRE)), Ellie In The Pink (IRE) (Johannesburg - Stravinia by Stravinsky), and Ventose (GB) (Beat Hollow (GB) - All Glory (GB) by Alzao) were chasing. Date With Destiny began to make some progress, but Zanazzi was still in charge. Zanazzi appeared to be home free, but Date With Destiny got in the clear and charged to the front. Opera Dancer (GB) (Norse Dancer (IRE) - Optaria by Song (GB)) made a run as well, but Zanazzi held her off. The rest were far back. Thus, Date With Destiny, who is marked similarly to her sire, wins her debut and extends the legacy of George Washington. Watch the Replay (note that the replay page defaults to the most recent race. Theyskens' Theory (filly; Bernardini - Heat Lightning by Summer Squall) was off slowly at Newmarket, made some headway on the outside, but weakened and finished 9th. This turned out to be a very good race, however, as Catfish (IRE) (One Cool Cat - Castellane (FR) by Danehill) and Ragsah (IRE) (Shamardal - Colorado Dancer (IRE) by Shareef Dancer) battled to the wire. Catfish, who had been reluctant to load, prevailed by a neck. Watch the Replay. View Race Results.
