July 18 Two-Year-Old Results

Roxy Gap Best in Shady Well

There were no scratches in this 12-horse field. Roxy Gap (Indian Charlie - Harts Gap by Saint Ballado) was favored, and she looked the part. Flo's Henny (Henny Hughes - Clairlyn by Bold Executive) was 33-1, and Seaman Harbor (Rockport Harbor - Everything by Geiger Counter) was 49-1. Flo's Henny was a little on edge. Seaman Harbor looked calmer than she was in her debut. Roxy Gap outbroke the field, but she wasn't alone up there. Tree Pose (Old Forester - Alpha Angel by Alphabet Soup) took the lead, but also close were Best Camper (Forest Camp - Flying Stuka by Stuka), and Miss Layla (Forest Grove - Chic Sheba by Alysheba). Roxy Gap was tracking the pace, and then moved even with Tree Pose on the turn. These two battled for a time, but Roxy Gap pulled free for a 2 1/2 length victory. Tree Pose was 5 1/2 lengths clear of third-place Pass Partout. First-timer Lisvernane (Arch - Owenahincha by Distant View) passed a bunch late to finish 4th at 83-1. Seaman Harbor made a move, but then flattened out and finished 6th. Flo's Henny didn't do much running, finishing 9th. Watch the Replay.
