Dalamar Delivers

There were no scratches, and the track was fast. Slick Vic (Suave - Coincidence by Cherokee Run) was favored, and Repute (Sky Mesa - Candid Moments by Pirate's Bounty) got plenty of respect as well. Dalamar (Henny Hughes - Dutchess Mojo by Deputy Minister), who was adding Lasix for this start, got some late attention to go off a shade under 7-2. He looked good in the paddock. Dalamar broke running, and went right to the lead. Slick Vic was in pursuit. Also close up were Repute and Key to a Cure (Suave - All the Honor by Double Honor). Majestic Victory (The Daddy - Majestic Splendor by Bertrando) was off awkwardly, and Cranky (Action This Day - Future Starlet by Theatrical (IRE)) was also slow to get going. Dalamar continued on top, with Slick Vic trying to run him down. However, Dalamar increased his margin late for a 2 length victory, as he became the first winner for Henny Hughes. Key to a Cure just got by Slick Vic late to take second, as the Suave offspring finishing 2nd and 3rd. This was the 21st start for a Henny Hughes offspring and I saw the first 20 live. I was sure that Dalamar would win, because I had a meeting and missed the race. Watch the Replay.
